Which hotel to stay at while intown to catch a game?

My 2 buddies and I (all straight and in our late 20's and single) will be taking a road trip to catch a Reds game. wondering which hotel to stay the night to take part in all the pre game and after game action (BARS). Prefer to walk or take some kind of quick transportation to and from GAPB. I have heard to stay on the KY side of the river for more action, can anyone confirm this? Any ideas on hotels to stay at or stay away from? What is Newport on the Levee all about? Is there some kind of water taxi or ferry that takes you across river?Thinking about the Comfort INN. Any suggestions?
