Memphis Redbirds started with 2 straight losses to Oklahoma, Reyes pitched in the first game, he lasted 6 innings with 9 hits, 4 runs (3 earned) and 3 strikeout. He didn't take the loss because the game went to the extrainnings, Memphis lost in the 13th (Benes was the loser). Spivey was 2 for 4 (but 1 fielding error), Duncan 3 for 6.
In the second game, 9-5 loss with Spivey batting first (1-4 with a run and a walk) and Duncan stroke out 3 times. Webb pitched 5 innings, 6 hits 2 runs 1 walk and 5 so for him, losers was Smith and there's also a bad outing from Johnson.
Springfield started as Memphis, 0W and 2L

Another loss for Memphis, third straight...this time the loser is Leek. Spivey went 1/4, 1 double but another fielding error (2 in 3 games) and Duncan went 1/3 with 1 Rbi double. Benes also pitched in the game, giving up 2 runs in 2 innings.
First win for Springfield, good game by Pomeranz (6 inning, 5 hits, 1 run, 1bb and a strikeout)

not a good start for the AAA REDBIRDS...TALENT is pretty thin

Look out for Rico Washington. He has got some serious talent. The Springfield Cardinals are playing some good ball right now.

michel hernandez has put up decent numbers for a catcher. i've never heard of him. does anyone know anything about him? the redbirds' website is awful when it comes to providing info on players, so if someone could fill me in i'd appreciate it...

Hernandez was a minor league free agent. He was place on the 40-man when they signed him. Before Bennett was signed, I think they were planning on him to be the back up catcher. I don't know much else.

ive been getting spoiled waching all the talent they have down in the quad cities (jamie garcia, colby rasmus, jon jay, tyler greene, mark mcormic, bryan anderson, and randy roth) that it makes me think about how well the cardinals are set for the next 5-10 years with all this talent!!!!

I live near Albany/Troy, NY and tomorrow I'm going to the game between the Tri-City Valley Cats (Astros) and the State College Spikes (Cardinals). Baby Birds v. Baby 'Stros: perhaps a preview of the NL Central 4-5 years down the road.:clapping

I saw Palm Beach vs. Jupiter Hammerheads (FL Marlins) tonight; 4 errors on the part of the Cardinals but they won 5-4 with a walkoff run on an error by the RF for Jupiter. PB was shaky at first, Jupiter opened the game with a 4 run first inning with 3 errors by PB.

I was mistaken about the opponent for the Valley Cats. Instead of the State College Spikes (Cardinals) they played the Staten Island Yankees (Duh?). On the schedule I thought STA meant State College. I later found out STC meant State College. It was a great game though. Valley Cats were down 0-6 to the hated Yankees by the third. "Cats won 7-6 in 10 innings, the winning run coming on a sharp grounder to third, and runner on third knocking the throw out of the catcher's mitt on the slide into home.
I love this game!:D

State College Spikes will be signing a PDA with the Pittsburgh Pirates to be the Pirates Short Season A team. This means that the Cardinals will need to find a new Short Season A team.
