Second base use to be a dependable position for the Cardinals. Some of the best Cardinals ever played secondbase such as Hornsby, Frisch, Schoendiest, Javier and Herr. That is 3 Hall of Famers, and 2 very important members of championship teams in the 60s and 80s.
Since Tommy Herr, the Cardinals have used everyone at secondbase why can't the Cardinals find some stability at secondbase.
Secondbasemen since Tommy Herr include: Jose Oquendo, Luis Alicea, Gerinimino Pena, Delino Deshields, Fernando Vina, Bo Hart, Tony Womack, Mark Gruds..., and now Aaron Mills. I am sure that I am forgetting someone also, but these guys were the starters that is at least 9 different players since 1988 so that there is at least a different secondbase every other year.
Granted, the 70s were an era of different secondbasemens between Javier and Herr with Sizemore, Tyson, and Oberkfell playing that position.

Can't really argue with the Rolen trade, but Placido Polanco sure is a nice player.

i honestly don't see what the big deal is. it's really hard to find a 2B that produces enough to justify a long-term investment. i think we're doing just fine using the bulk of our payroll on players like rolen, pujols, and carpenter.
who knows, this miles kid may stick around a while too. i've heard a lot of great things about him from a friend of mine who use to work for the charlotte knights while miles was on the team. he's a hard worker, good ballplayer, and decent person. he fits the cardinal mold.

I believe that I was making the point that what was once one of the Cardinals strongest positions have become it's most unstable one. I guess that there has to be one position like this on a team, but since I was a secondbasemen, I would prefer that my team the Cardinals have a quality secondbasemn.
I would like to see Miles succeed also.

Vina filled in for 3 or 4 years... good glove, smart player, tough out.

We should have kept Placido Polanco around somehow. Miles and Luna are good platoon though.

Miles is going to be just fine for second. He seems to be showing the same spirit that Eckstein has. He also pretty easy on this girls eyes!

I think long term Hector Luna may be a better answer than Aaron Miles.

Luna is definatly having a good year so far, but Miles is doing well also. Let's keep 'em both.
We could of had Polanco last year, but his agent didn't tell him we made an offer! Time for a new agent, I think.

Both candidates ( Luna and Miles ) are worth it but one thing Luna has over Miles is that he has a Round Triper ( HR ) .
