Boof was lights out in his Opening Day start for the Rochester Red Wings, striking out eight in six innings and giving up no runs for the win.

Just wondering, why do you like Boof so much isn't he in the Twins farm system???

So?
I like Ryan Church and he's in AAA.

That's not a good reason not to like a player just because he's in the minors.

No no, see Church is in the Nat's system. He likes the Indians, and they are in the twins division.

Still.
I can like Dallas McPherson and he's in the Angels farm system.
Just because someone's in another team's system doesn't mean he can't be your favorite player, Twins and all.

Possibly his name?

Possibly his name?
Bingo. By the way, he was born John Paul Bonser. :crazy

I pulled a Boof RC in a pack of 2002 Topps back in '01, and as soon as I stopped laughing I bookmarked his MiLB players page and have been tracking him ever since. And while he's no longer a prospect, he appears first in line for a call-up the first time the Twins need help.

He's also a high-strikeout pitcher, something I enjoy in all hurlers.

My favorite player, by the way, is not Boof, but is Coco Crisp. He's still my favorite even after being traded away from my beloved Indians.

Hey, can't I bring a little fun to this forum? :laugh :crazy

Bonser's problem is he walks way too many people, if he doesnt cut the walks he will never amount to much as a major league starter..... now as a relief pitcher that might be another story

Right right...too many walks, too many home runs, too many wild pitches. But each was cut down in '05 compared to '04, so if he can keep up the trend he could be a spot-starter/reliever.

Boof took the loss despite a strong performance last night against Pawtucket, going six innings and striking out five. The two runs he surrendered came off a Jeff Bailey home run. His performance was wasted as Pawtucket shut out the Red Wings.

Boof had another great start yesterday against Richmond, going another six innings of shutout baseball and picking up the win to move to 2-0 on the season.

Another solid start for Boof as he went 6 scoreless innings, surrendering four hits and two walks while striking out four. Sadly, the bullpen blew Rochester's lead before the offense came back to win the game, so Boof gets a no-decision.

How so? He's in the minors, giving up too many walks and home runs. The book is still out.

Boof slipped a bit in his start Thursday against Richmond, turning in a mediocre performance for a no-decision. Nonetheless, his season ERA still stands at a sparkling 1.52.

Honesly, he could make the Twin's rotation a number 4,5, or spot starter. He needs to work on control though.

Boof had his best outing of the season tonight against Norfolk, going a season-high seven innings and striking out seven. Sadly, yet another no-decision for this fine effort.

Boof Bonser was added to the Twins' active roster today, taking the place of Kyle Lohse. He'll make his debut Sunday @ Milwaukee.

Boof's. No question. Now, if the game kept the Indians from the playoffs I'd feel bad...but Boof. I'd root for him.

Congrats to Boof, and I'm glad my IndyIndians won't have to face him unless he get's sent down in mid or late June when the Red Wings play us at Rochester, and then here. He has been a whale of a AAA hurler, and he can only help the struggling hill of the Twins. BTW, he does also have one of those monikers you got to love, eg., Prince Fielder, Kevin Youkilis, Angel Pagan, Razor Shines, etc.
