Will he go to HOF?
Possibly.
Hope he returns to Braves so he can be dominant again.

Yes, he'll go to the Hall of Fame, but he'll never pitch for the Braves again and he'll never be dominant again. He doesn't have to, though, in order to merit election.

I agree with Chancellor, but I will carry it one step further; he will win 300.

He can quite today and be assured of 1st ballot election.

Tom Glavine was a HOFer the day he left the Atlanta Braves.

In some senses of the word (the Clemens-Unit-Pedro senses), he was never exactly "dominant".

What he has been is astonishingly effective and very durable.

I think he may have more effectiveness left in him. There's no reason he can't win 15 games for a good team.

I agree with the consensus -- he cleared the Hall bar years ago.

How does Glavine compare with first ballot Hall of Famer Jim Palmer?

Extremely similar, IMHO. Not as flashy as Palmer.

I'm not saying Glavine doesn't deserve the Hall, but it is interesting he has never led his league in K/BB or WHIP.
He's only been in the top TEN in WHIP three times.
And he's only been in the top ten in K/BB ONCE

One wonders how he's been able to stay in the league so long.

Very low HR/9 ratio...low 2B/9 ratio...low total bases/9 ratio... very good BABIP...very good hit batsmen and wild pitch numbers, insainly high amount of double plays induced, especialy for only having a 1.45 gb/fb ratio... (consider the fact that he has more double plays than Greg Maddux, despite Maddux' clear gb and innings pitched advantages) improved K/BB rates with ROB and even better rates with RISP, very effective holding runners...good defensive player...durability...no DL stints, has had the luxury of playing in front of average to above average defenses. Glavine's succes is no fluke.
