Nice way to open the season... Is anyone else still watching the game?
Good thing we have 161 more to go. Zito was just plain terrible tonight!:(

My goodness...was that Barry Zito pitching for the A's, or was that Calvin Schiraldi pitching with a Zito jersey? He's the ace of this team! 15-2 the final score. And just as I post this, Swisher goes out looking...the A's need to improve the pitching.

how many teams have gone coast to coast during the regular season?
6 or so?

no worries. the oaklanders'll be there come season's end.

At least Frank Thomas went deep in his first AB, that's gotta be a very encouraging sign for the A's. If he can stay healthy enough to amass 350-450 ABs, Thomas should still be good enough for 30 homeruns.

What I thought was amazing about tonight's game is the fact that the A's pitchers threw an amazing 214 pitches. That's insane!

I watched the game until the 4th inning, but after that I couldn't take anymore of it. I don't blame it all on Zito though. The defense early wasn't very good. The umpire was aweful for Zito. There were alot of pitches that could have easily been called strikes, and gotten him out of the innings without any runs. I think he was screwed personally. The ump messed with his head. You could tell Zito thought most of those were strikes, and if the Yanks keep getting extra pitches bad things will happen. He will rebound just fine. His curve wasn't very good yesterday, but thats not even why he was rocked. If the ump had a good strike zone for Zito he wouldn't have gotten hit like that.
