Here is the most likely Opening Day batting order, according to mLive.com:

1) Curtis Granderson
2) Placido Polanco
3) Pudge Rodriguez
4) Magglio Ordonez
5) Dmitri Young
6) Chris Shelton
7) Carlos Guillen
8) Craig Monroe
9) Brandon Inge

It's possible that Guillen could miss the first game with a stiff back, but Leyland says he should be ready to go. When Carlos decided to re-sign with us last season, it looked as if we got a bargain and he took a good sized discount to stick with the Tigers. Now, it's looking as though we're going to be needing quality bench players that can fill in for the time Guillen misses. I'm guessing that his being so injury-prone is the reason why we kept both Omar Infante and Ramon Santiago on the 25-man roster. Infante is most likely the future at the SS position, as he's still very young and has accumulated plenty of big-league experience the past few years. I'm hoping that Guillen can put together a few months of injury-free baseball, but that's about as likely to happen as KC winning the division title. When making their predictions, most sports writers are saying this year's group of Tigers can make some waves, as long as they stay healthy. So far, we're off to a bad start and we haven't even played a meaningful game yet.
