View Full Version : You guys are so decent

I just realised that fans here on Baseball-Fever are the most decent and respectful people on the net.
I was on a hockey forum (that has 10 times the members here) and they are so critical of everything anyone says. They swear, they just don't like people.
They're always in a bad mood.

A couple of days ago I published an article about a hockey team (Ottawa Senators) on this forum. And all of a sudden all the members were ranting and disagreeing and ''yelling.''

I am thankful that you aren't like this.

Sorry to belie that theory, but I'm moving this to the Web Improvements forum, since it's about BBF itself, rather than baseball.

Please forgive. :)

wilkerson_rulz: You are so right! I only joined BBF in mid-February and my experience has been the same as yours. Especially in debates where BBFers personify "Let's disagree without being disagreeable"! Brownie31

Yes Steve, I have said this before also. I am also a member of NYYfans.com, you can guess it, a Yankee fan site.

But it is the same overthere. I once commented that it is not good for baseball if the Yankees win it all every year. The reactions were mostly like: "I don't care about other teams, I only care about the Yankees" or "are you crazy" (O.K. I must admit, I am :laugh :waving).

So you may understand that I hardly visit that site anymore.

I don't have that much experience with other forums, but out of about 10 or so other baseball forums I've checked out I think BBF is by far the best, with MLB Center being it's only close rival.

I agree. The members here on BBF are very intelligent and articulate. It seems to me members on other sites have more chatty jabber and less intelligent discussion.

Golly gee, ah shucks. We are nice people, aren't we? But don't think we aren't feisty too. Mods must constantly stop the rock throwing, mud slinging and keep the crazies out. Full time job really. But its worth it to have a nice place to talk good baseball.

This is the best site I've ever come across for baseball discussion. It's got the most knowledgable posters around, who can dabble with serious issues, as well as light hearted ones. There are a few knuckleheads that show up from time to time, but because the quality of the majority is so high, those guys stick out like a sore thumb and are dealt with accordingly. Another cool thing is the participation of younger posters, who appear to be wise beyond their years, and when they do show their youth, older posters don't bash them for it. So I agree with site being "so decent." Wow, what a warm, fuzzy post. :)

"Yeah. What they said."

Hey, I apologized for that! I had no idea you were not an English speaker! I just thought that it was a little hypocritical of you to call people "dumb" when you had made numerous errors in your post. So you were the one who started it. I never made fun of you, I just said that if you were going to call people dumb and insult their team, then you should at least make sure you sounded smart while doing it. (Not that you're not smart, of course.). Just to cover it, I'll apologize again:

My sincerest apologies. I had no idea you didn't speak English as a first language.

I had just been sick that whole and I was in an extremely bad mood, because I had missed three baseball games.

I'll admit, I did deserve it. :o :o :o I was definitely being a jerk, although I didn't know English wasn't his first language. On another note, I'd say the least decent member here would be NOMAR22. Frequent rehashing of 3-year old threads and adding comments such as "are you on crack" does not make me think highly of you.

Just to reiterate what most posters on this thread have said. Baseball Fever has become a vast sinkhole on the net for putting my time into - and I wish I had more time to put into it! Most posters are intelligent and more than willing to share their knowledge and experineces. When disagreements do arise - which occurs regularly - they are normally handled in a friendly manner. A very enjoyable site which has brought me to the verge of divorce!:o

Except I have to use Cary's, less sugar. Maple syrup on sweet potato, yams, and warm blueberry muffins.:D

Not only did Yankee bring out the cross, garlic, and a stake, he said I and other RSox fans were not pure of heart. Specifically, he said we had "lost our innocence". Now, how does he know that is a fact?

If you lose your innocence by supporting the team that won the WS, it would suggest that YFans are the opposite of innocent.

Of course, the way to correct this is to stay out of the WS. Penance may be done by supplying RSox fans with tickets, cash, dark chocolate, and liquor. Oysters(Wellfleet) and butter are acceptable, too.

I have never said that we are innocent. Of course we aren't. I have lost my innocence when I saw the Yanks win in 1996.

Tickets for what? Peanut league perhaps. I'll ask Matt. He probably knows were to buy them in Boston... :waving :waving Liquor? Tea will do. You guys spoiled a lot of tea a couple of years ago during some party! What a waste was that. And now your asking us to replace that waste????

Never tried it on sweet potato or yams. Surprisingly, it's good on cold pizza too.

Oysters and the occasional lobster or crab are the only seafood I can eat.:( :(
