Jason LaRue will have surgery Monday to repair torn cartilage in his right knee and figures to miss two or three weeks.
It's something that's been bothering him for a while, apparently, so maybe this was the inspiration for the acquisition of David Ross. Javier Valentin will be the Reds' primary catcher while LaRue missed the first week or two. Ross will back him up.

When I was watching the game on Sat., I noticed that LaRue was having trouble on his knees, a pick-off attempt at 1st and the HR he hit.

LaRue had his surgery today. the operation took about 30 minutes with him supposedly just using a local anesthetic.

apperently the tear only bothered him when he was squatting.
