View Full Version : Proposal: Barry Bonds Forum

I propose we open a forum dedicated solely to the posting of threads regarding Barry Bonds.

In doing so we please everyone:

1. For those who have to sift through all of the existing threads in Current Events regarding Bonds, they would be pleased. A single forum dedicated to Bonds would help clear any clutter for them.

2. For those wishing to bash Barry, they would be pleased. There would exist a forum in which to bash him to their heart's content.

3. For those wishing to support Barry, they would be pleased. There would a exist a forum in which to support him to their heart's content.

I further propose the first couple of threads be concerned with everything about Barry. We could have:

7:00 am- Barry Wakes Up

followed by:

7:10 am- Barry Uses John, Showers, Shaves

followed by:

7:30 am- Barry Dresses

Suggestions? Thoughts?

At least it would localize all that crap.

I suggest we call it "Barry all the time". Hey, it may be a bigger hit than the Beatles or Michael Jackson. In fact, it may be an even bigger hit than ... Babe Ruth? :D

Sometimes I wonder aloud if there are any baseball subjects other than Barry Bonds. Things like spring training, how the new guys are doing, how are the pitchers doing reworking their new and old pitches. Instead it's everything conceivable and Barry and some you didn't even think were possible.

Bonds brings all his negative attention on himself. Now the latest is sicking his lawyers on the authors and publishers of the new book with a "threatend" law suit. Does anyone smell public releations ploy here? Does anyone here in their right mind actually believe that the authors and especially a reputable publishing company would have allowed such a book to be published unless they knew they had the evidence and were 100 percent certain their side would prevail in a law suit? Of course not. Bonds isn't stupid so he has to realize this as well. There is not a snow balls chance that Bonds would risk an open court proceeding and possible further public scrutiny with possible damaging further revelations. So the only realistic reality is a poor attempt at looking innocent and intimidation.

There is not any chance at all that the publishers and authors would have released such a book against a man as rich, powerful and arrogant as Bonds with out knowing they have the "smoking guns" to burn him in court. If Bonds allows his arrogance and ego to get the better of him and actually allow this thing to go through a court trial it will most likely be the final nail in and end of his "legacy"

Earlier I reported in three short blurbs that Barry Bonds had in fact today wakened up, performed personal hygiene and dressed. He has now eaten the morning meal!

Bonds breakfasted today, and as per his daily routine, ingesting a specific ratio or protein, carbs and fats. He does so to maintain a proper nutritional balance according to his weight and height. It is adjusted for a man his age who participates in a strict workout regimine. When asked to comment on his breakfast he commented only that it "was good".

More soon as Barry's day progresses.

Approximately an hour and forty-five minutes after eating this morning, Barry continued his daily spring training routine and drove to the Giants facility today. The drive was uneventful. Barry took seven lefts, four rights and merged into traffic flawlessly in three attempts. He was very good at parking in the diagonal spaces.

It is reported by a source high up in the Giants organization that Bonds, however, "rides the brakes. Barry is going to have to watch that. We're extremely concerned such disregard for proper driving technic may have a detrimental effect on his knees. You know how fragile they are, of course. We may consider Barry take a remedial driving course in order to preserve his knees".

After his drive into the spring training facility this morning, Barry disappeared into the clubhouse, only to emerge about 10:00 am dressed and ready for the morning workout. While making his way onto the field to begin stretching prior to the harder stuff, Bonds blinked several times and sneezed. He was told "Bless you" by no less than three members of the Giants organization.

Bonds emerged from the sneezing incident unscathed. In light of what happened to then Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa a few years ago when he sneezed, the moment became quite tense until it was obvious that Bonds progress to the outfield grass continued without incident.

Boy oh boy! With stuff like this happening we certainly are in for a rollicking year with the Barry Watch!!!!

I can't wait until the reports on flatulence come out!

Yes, it happened.

During a routine practice today, where nothing out of the ordinary occurred, Barry broke a sweat. Perspiration was visibly noticeable on the sluggers forehead and neck as he emerged from the batting cage. Bonds was seen toweling off the beads of moisture with a white towel provided by the clubhouse attendant. When asked about the sweat Bonds had no comment.

After this mornings spring training workout Barry Bonds retired to the clubhouse. It is reported Bonds lounged in the locker area approximately 15 minutes then showered. He then got a rubdown in the training room.

Immediately following that Bonds was seen applying a clear substance to his arms and legs, according to a source wishing to remain anonymous. When later asked about this Bonds confirmed the report, producing from his locker a bottle of Johnson's Baby Oil. "I use to keep from getting ashy skin" he explained as he smiled for the camera and joked with reporters and columnists.

Bonds then lunched on a turkey on wheat sandwich, salad and cantaloupe.

Cantaloupe? But cantaloupe is out of season.
If this isn't proof of what a bad person Bonds is, then there is no hope for society or baseball. Cantaloupe in March indeed.

At 8am, Barry Bonds logs onto BBF and supports Bob's suggestion that there be a Barry Bonds forum. However, he deems that "Current Events" become a subforum of this, since there will eventually be other baseball news not involving Barry Bonds.

Afterwards, Barry washes himself, has his protein shake for breakfast and prepares in the gym for another day at Spring Training. :)

I guess we could have a Barry Bonds general thread, like the Ruth or Cobb ones, that might help. I dunno.

I thought that "General Threads" were like everything about someone. We've got things about whether pitchers should pitch to him, his racial perception, his lawsuit.

If it were merely about his offensive stats, I'd agree, but the whole PED thing has brought a large variety of topics on this. There'd be just too many things to discuss on this.

If one took all the Barry noise and multiply it by infinity, one might have an inkling of the hoopla generated by Babe Ruth between 1919-24. Neither was/is justified, however, IMPO.

Yeah, but Ruth had brew, babes (none named Ruth) and hot dogs. Barry ... he's got a few allegations of playing the game while using things that weren't legal.

Ruth also changed the game, as it wasn't one of brute power and the longball. I think you'd mentioned that Cobb had the speed and finesse for the game. Still, Barry had slugging predecessors; Ruth didn't.

Ah, but there is one of our problems. Steroids may have been illegal in society at large, and track and field, but baseball's lame & lackadaisical attitude towards drugs (allowing Mark McGwire to advertise Andro on TV!) has been part of the problem.

Now we're in the clumsy position of considering punishing a player retroactively, when they broke no BASEBALL Rules. I have long contended that until baseball initiates random drug testing in the off season, it isn't serious about cleaning its house.

Bonds did wrong, but baseball has created a lot of its own problem. How long will it take to drag baseball to clean its house, kicking and screaming to tough, no-nonsense prohibitions, with real teeth to punish wrong-doers. For every rat you see, there are many cowering out of sight.

Bill
Bill, you make far too much sense. Just trying to have some fun around here. :)

You know what would be fun?

Starting up a separate Barry forum...a place to cherish all those wonderful tidbits about baseball's most beloved player.
Barry himself would approve. Really. Please.

Edit: I'd even be willing to start the first thread: "What if Barry Bonds was Lavender?"

How's about?

What if Barry never existed?

What if Barry never was accused of juicing?

What if Barry were just a regular baseball player?

Does baseball continue w/o hourly updates on all things Barry?

The world may never know. :D

I surrender!!!!!

I have learned my lesson well. In attempting to post "All That Is Barry" I felt I would be up to the task. After a day of work, then fulfilling the daily obligations and routine that occur with a family of six, I felt it time to catch you all up on Barry. To my dismay I have found this is but an excercise in futility. The RSS feeds are crammed. No way on God's green earth can one person in one thread take on this monumental task. There is just too much Barry!!!!!!!!!!! Its obvious we DO need all the Bonds topics we can muster.

Clearly I have been creamed.

Just groundbreaking. Perhaps next you could think up material about Julio Franco's age. No one has even breached that one, either.

Idea! How about to show how much we appriciate Bonds, During road games the entire crowd shall show how much he means to us with confetti and blow horns:D.30,000-40,000 blow horns going off while he's at bat, We all know he'll be feeling the love:D.If only he was he was coming to Fenway....

In all seriousness though, do you think fans,if they stand up and fight with boycotts or my little plan up there^, could stop Bonds?

Anyways Here's a little quiz on grammer can you find the mistake Barry made on his offical website,www.BarryBonds.com:
Hi Fans,

I've been here at spring training for a week now and I am really getting fired up for the season. It's been great seeing my teammates and coaches and being back on the field with them. Many questions have been asked about my knee. I want to let you know it's feeling great -- there's no swelling after exercises or when I wake up in the morning. As for hitting, I'm working on my fundamentals and swing. I feel that the power is there, but I still have to fine tune it within the next few weeks. I'm also spending time on cardio, which is a little different from previous seasons.

Do you see it?.........No? look harder...... I found it

Hi Fans,

He said Fans instead of Fan :D
