Should get into the playoffs...but they won't go far because of our starting pitching

My snap reaction was 88-90 wins, borderline for a playoff spot.

I've overrated them too many times before every year they sign big names. Last year Beltran and Pedro were signed they didn't meet their standards. The year Burnitz, Mo, and Alomar were signed they didn't meet standards either so I would expect a little over .500 winning percentage.

They did meet their standard last year. All the baseball analys were saying that last year that the mets were a .500 team, and they were right.

The Mets are scary but their pitching is too weak, they are a bad impression of the Yankees

Barring any serious injuries, I'm expecting them to win 90+ games this year. I just hope the bullpen remains healthy.

Their starting pitching is so-so, but Wagner was a great pickup. You've got Pedro, and Glavine. But after that....who knows.

The Mets have got to learn how to beat the Braves. According to Street & Smith's Baseball magazine, the Mets lost 13 of 19 to the Braves last year. They play horribly when they play the Braves, and I don't know why.

I see them winning 85-90 games this year, but whether or not they make the playoffs will depend on how they fare against the Braves. They need someone to backup Pedro and Glavine to make that next step, I think.

Rotation is the only iffy thing on this team...rotation I see as:

1. Pedro
2. Glavine
3. Zambrano
4. Traschel
5. Heilman

I'd try to get Zambrano eventually phased out and put in Brian Bannister as part of the rotation. Alay Soler looks to be the Kaz Matsui of your pitching staff and you should be hoping for that contract to end soon as he is looking very hittable in major league ball.

They lose the division not to the braves whpo have a weak and untested 0bullpen with a closer with a 3.93 ERA the back of their SP is also very weak when you get past Smoltz and Hudson I believe the Philies are going to be the surprise team this year since they have the best offense and a solid bullpen but because of their SP they will not get past the NLDS the Mets should beat out the Cardinals for the Wild Card yes I said the cardinals not the Astros

It should be a good year for division races. I'd love to see the Mets get a wild card spot. We'll see how their starting pitching holds up. As everyone says, that'll be the key to their season. They're going to hit, and they're going to score runs with the lineup they have. Whether or not they can play defense and pitch will be the next question.

Letting Piazza go was a good move. His better days are definintely behind him. They upgraded defensively with Lo Duca at catcher. Piazza couldn't throw anyone out. His offensive numbers may not be as good as Piazza's, but with Delgado coming in, he'll more than make up for that.

If you're a Braves fan, you've got to wonder how they're going to do without Leo Mazzone there anymore. They've got Hudson and Smoltz, but beyond that, it's iffy. But, they've still got Bobby Cox...one of the better managers in baseball.

The Mets obviously have a good team, but as far as them making it to the playoffs, I believe it when I see it

the mets will probably make the playoffs - but they'll screw up in the division series unless pedro, glavine or zambrano can pitch solid 8 innings then pass it to wagner

The Mets will do alright this year and they'll probably make an appearance in the playoffs, although how far they'll go is a big question mark.

That said, I'm already looking forward to the 2007 Mets. Now there is one team I'm expecting to go very, very far into the post-season. We are only a couple of players away from making it to the Big Dance.

Unless Zambrano is gonna win 15 games, forget it...Trachsel is iffy.. Bannister, if he has a good season will make a difference..Heilmann, could step in, and will..I believe it will all come down to less injuries and some luck....And finding an idiot, erh, team, that will take Kaz..

:gt

Amazin!!!..Simply Amazin!!!

I like the Mets to improve and I wouldnt' be too worried about the Starting 5 unless Pedro is hurt.

The Mets have a nice looking bullpen and that's their key.
If the bullpen fails them, then the Mets will not make the playoffs.

Also if the Braves are any good this season...they will eliminate the Mets if they see them.

The Braves are the Mets Kryptonite! :D

How do u guys thinks the Mets will do in 06???

For one thing, I'm looking forward to some really exciting baseball from these guys.

How far they go is anyone's guess. I definitely believe they'll make it to the post-season, how far they go, it all depends on that ol' Mets magic.
