Do you think Izzy is a reliable closer? Why or why not?

Izzy may not be in the Rivera/Lidge realm of closers, but Jason has been consistantly a top 7-8 closer when healthy for the past 5 years. Compared to the poor closers most teams have, Izzy is pretty reliable, despite always seeming to make things "interesting." Isringhausen is the best closer the Cardinals could have right now, and better than any closer they could afford if they lost him. Nobody is giving up the Riveras or Gagnes or Lidges of the world, so they need desperately to hang on to Isringhausen.

Izzy is a rare commodity that should be prized. Good closers that are consitent and good are VERY hard to come by!

Izzy is a great closer. I prefer him over any other one. i use him on MVP 05 and he does a wonderful job. As long as he isn't injured.

He has done a good job, but how can you be excited about a guy who begins to break down as he nears the 60 IP mark each year?

Which is why he isn't a top 5 guy. Problem is, a huge majority of closers won't even give you a very productive first 60 IP.
