One of the most popular PCL players made a brief stop for the boys in blue back in 1958. Steve Bilko was in the trade for Don Newcombe. What are your Bilko Dodger memories?

Bilko played for the Tigers in the early 60's. He was in a few home run derbys at Tiger Stadium. His minor league heroics never translated to the majors.
He got picked up by the Angels in the expansion draft.

Nice job. Was drafted by the Angels for the '61 season, hit 22 homers and again, for a brief time, regained the spotlight in LA...and the old Wrigley Field. I was fortunate, as I did see one game there, though I was only 8 and not much into the history I was witnessing. But there he was, in all his glory, wearing an Angels uni and the toast of the town for a brief flicker of time. I just sold my baseball cards but noted the 1960 card with the airbrushed D on his cap.
