--Leaderboards for 1964. Only one single season offensive record was matched this season, with Ed Bressoud tying the doubles mark of 55. Don Drysdale set 4 new marks on the pitching side in IP, CG, shutouts and WHIP. Previously Drysdale held the less distinguished records of 23 HBP in 1961 and 47 HR allowed in 1962.

--Two offensive marks were broken this season. Yaz hit 57 doubles and Frank Robinson was hit by 25 pitches. Leo Cardenas tied Jim Rice's future record of 36 GIDP, but came up short of Joe Adcock's 43 in the 1961 CKL. Jimmy Wynn also would have set a major league record with 175 K's, but Pancho Herrera holds the CKL record with 180.
--Sandy Koufax shattered the single season strike out record - by a whopping 74 (329-255), althoughhe only led the league by 1. Sam McDowell fanned 328. Juan Marichal shattered the CG record with 24. Don Cardwell tied the record for HR allowed with 47.

--The great performances of 1966 were primarily by pitchers. Sandy Koufax broke the record for wins, IP and WHIP. Juan Marichal set the record for ERA, one of three pitchers to beat the previous mark. Don McMahan broke his own record for saves with 40.
--Matty Alou set a new record for batting average. His .392 broke the previous mark by 25 points. That was the only offensive record broken this season

--The only offensive record broken this year was offensive in more ways than one - Reggie Jackson sets the strikeout record with 183. Tom Seaver and Fergie Jenkins each started 42 games for the Legends, breaking the previous high of 41 held by 3 pitchers.

--An exciting season which featured our first .400 season, by Tony Oliva, and our first 30 game winner, Fergie Jenkins. Willie Stargell made the first serious run at Jim Gentile's 1961 HR record, as well as Willie Mays RBI record from the same year.
