Yesterday the Cannons signed young shortstop Luis Aparicio, who runs real fast and has a great glove but is a raw hitter. Cannons coaches will be working with him all offseason to improve his hitting skill.
Along with that, the Cannons got another shortstop in Ron Hansen, this one much larger but still a great fielder. Hansen is a very good hitter who has power and plate discipline, but seems to be slumping going into '62.
However, we may not be seeing much of either, as the Cannons are looking to trade one of both of them.

--The Cannons folded in June 1967. Despite the team's on field success, the Cannons experienced steadily declined attendance at decrepid Crosley Field. The ownship group went insolvent over the 1966-67 offseason and the Cannons entered 1967 under league control. Efforts to find local ownership failed and the team was sold to Sockeye Inc of Los Angeles, continuing operations as the Sockeye Angels. This lucrative market was available due to the move of the Gamblers (sold to Kyle Corp of Boston in the 66-67 offseason).
