The moderators of BBF have decided to name me as an Angel Forum moderator. I am honored by this nad will do my uptmost to make this forum a bit more lively.
This is the most exciting time to be an Angel fan, parlaying the success of the 2002 season and back to back West Division titles, a dynamic owner who want to see this club thrive in this market, and a great farm system to reload the players.
Good luck to this forum and the 2006 Angels.

Steve, you were greatly suited for this position, and I'm more than happy that you've accepted. Your knowledge and of Orange County and dedication to the Angels is without question.
Here's to the new Forum Leader in town! :D

Congrats, and my suggestion to get this place more lively is to bring lifetime over here. (That guy drove me so nuts on the Angel MLB board over that name change that I still have him on Ignore). :crazy

It seemed if LT was actually working for the city or even Mayor Potato Chip himself. Naw, we don't need that drama here. ;)
Here is the Mayor himself: (Maybe he can throw out the first ball on opening day!)

Best of luck, Steve! :p

Congrats Steve. Now if we can get you to change from the Dark Side

The dark side???? The Dodgers are the Evil Empire West. ;) All of us lifelong Angel fans had to live in the shadows for decades and now with the Jedi master, Arte Moreno, we will overcome that evil empire from the east coast. ;)

Hey, you say "Poh-tay-toh", I say "Poh-tah-toh", but in the end, it's who says "victory" in the end.
We'll have to change our luck in the ALDS in 2006. :gt

Sorry for being late. But congrats. Maybe you can work on inviting a few more Angel fans here? The Angels forum has the 2nd fewest threads and posts of all the MLB teams. I mean, even the Devil Rays has more topics. ;)

As someone who's moderated both successful and unsuccessful forums, I've come to the painful realization that there has to be a demand for it. You prime the pump for a while and then have to let it sink or swim on its own. Most people go to the MLB boards, but formats like this one are actually better.
The Angels have labored in anonynimity for most of their existence, and the reason is because Arte Moreno is the first one to market the entire Los Angeles market. Throughout their first 45 years they have averaged two losing seasons for every winning season and to date still have not finished over .500 more than two years in a row. When that picture brightens up, the country will discover the Halos. They're headed in the right direction.
I grew up in Orange County but have spent my adult life in Lafayette, LA (population 110,000). I moved here in 1972 and it was 1982 before an Angels cap became available locally (because Reggie Jackson joined the team). Immediately before the World Series season of 2002 I couldn't get a local national chain store to order an Angels cap for me and after the Series I drew stares locally when I walked around town on weekends. Nobody recognized it. FOX Sports Southwest carries the Astros and Rangers. When the Astros are playing the Dodgers the game is usually televised. When the Rangers are playing the Angels, the game is usually preempted by another Astros game or other sporting event.
As a lifetime fan of both the Dodgers and Angels in exile, I can see where the Angels need to develop some more before they gain the status of one of the elite teams in the public's perception. If they continue the initiatives started by Arte Moreno, more will become interested in the Angels.

Congratulations. I'm sure it will all go smoothly for you. Have I ever told you about my theory of race, religion or politics? ;) Just kidding.

No but I bet it would be a good discussion, but not on this board. ;)
