Pokey Reese has been released by the Marlins after his "absence." It turned out to be a personal problem, and here's the news.

That's sad news. I only saw him a few times but he looked ok when i saw him. Its sad when a player is forced to retire because of personel problems.

He could also hit for a mere average and could of been a 55 SB threat if he had been a starter .

I wouldn't consider under .240 league average.

Pokey Reese can't hit, can't walk, doesn't reach base which means he's NOTHING! He would never steal close to 25 bases he can't hit! If you can't get on, you can't steal.

I'd rather have someone slow who can actually hit more mere GOOD average, Reese is a worthless player and that's all he's worth being mentioned as. :)

Reese isn't totally worthless. He has good defensive ability at both 2B and SS. He also wasn't too bad in 99 (only season where he managed to stay 100% healthy).

The guy's not worthless.

He can play a great defensive game and defence isn't worthless. And, he does have a World Series ring, which is more than any of us can say.

It's not an attack at WR. I just don't like hearing major leaguers described as worthless. The guy won 2 gold gloves in the NL. Gotta count for something, no?
