Fidel Castro was once a pitcher in the Senators farm system. If he'd improved and made the big club, who knows how the world may have been changed?
Ain't baseball cool . . . ? I mean, if you're a communist, that is . . .

I believe Castro had a tryout with the Senator's in the late '40s but wasn't picked up by the team.

Even that he had a tryout may be false.

Great find Bob, and certainly worth looking into to learn more. At any rate, I'm certainly not a Castro fan, but I think it's cool that he has such a passion for the game. He's really fired up about the WBC, whereas I'm not certain our "Commander in Chief" even knows it's going on.
