As I am writing this post, the most recent entry I see is 5 or 6 days old.
I check this forum every day and rarely see new posts let alone threads.
Baseball Spring training is starting. Lakeland is active.
Why is no one here talking about anything?
I am not in Michigan anymore so I rely on various sources for Tiger info.
Since last season I have found BBF and have been waiting for the season to start to be able to discuss Tiger baseball.
It looks like I am the only one waiting!
Tiger fans, Where Are You????

I'm always game when there's an interesting thread. It'll pick up when there's more to discuss, really. We haven't had any major news out of camp yet. Games are finally starting, so I'm sure this forum will emerge from off-season hibernation soon. There's usually something fairly new to read about @ mLive.com.

I see Leland is stressing defense in spring training and that could help the pitching staff. However, do you think our fielders can improve enough to make a difference?

I am not even sure who is going to make it this year, outside of Pudge.
Vina is gone, right? Higgy too!?
Please give me a run down of the probable line-up.

Although I grew up a die-hard Tigers fan in northern Michigan, I became a big Pirates fan in 1988 when I was forced to spend the summer in Pittsburgh. Andy Van Slyke became my favorite player. After the strike in 1994, I stopped watching baseball (plus I was in college and had better things to do). Now, with Leyland and Van Slyke in Detroit, I have decided that it is time I come back to watching Detroit Tiger baseball. I live in Chicago now, so all you hear is Cubs/White Sox. I have been relying on the Detroit News website to get my info on the Tigers - it's a good source. I particularly love the daily photos from spring training.
Anyway, I'm glad to see Leyland managing again. He's so good at getting the most out of his players, and I love his emphasis on fundamentals. He has a way to make everyone on the team feel that they contribute, even if they do not play everyday. He also keeps a loose clubhouse. I think this is a great move for Detroit.

Well, I for one was listening to the game today. Unlike the fans of SOME teams, we need a reason to get some chatter going, but there are several good fans who hang out here. Stick around; it will be worth your while.
jfine, welcome to the fever! Glad you found a decent team to follow! ;)

This is how I see the roster looking for Opening Day, as of now:
1B - Chris Shelton (another ex-Pirate property, claimed in Rule 5)
2B - Placido Polanco
3B- Brandon Inge
SS - Carlos Guillen
LF - Craig Monroe
CF - Curtis Granderson
RF - Magglio Ordonez
C - Pudge Rodriguez
DH - Dmitri Young
Bench
IF - Omar Infante
C- Vance Wilson
1B - Carlos Pena
OF - Nook Logan
Starting Rotation:
Kenny Rogers
Jeremy Bonderman
Mike Maroth
Nate Robertson
Justin Verlander
Bullpen:
Todd Jones
Fernando Rodney
Jamie Walker
Franklin German
Chris Spurling
Roman Colon
Wil Ledezma
Leyland has said he's going to take at least twelve pitchers north out of spring training (maybe even thirteen!) which seems high. Bench depth looks iffy. There'll be several players starting at multiple positions, including Infante and Young, and a rotation at DH.
Yes, Vina and Higginson are LOOOOOONG GONE!
