Batting or throwing?

Cobb batted left and threw right, so did Shoeless.

Lip Pike played some games at both short and third, although not that many, and he didn't do too well in the field, but what the hell- he was the fastest man of his era by far and he could hit, so it might make up for a few extra errors.

I realize this is going back a long way, but I think you're going to have to to fill those slots.

And Turkey Mike Donlin played four games at short- with a whopping .615 fielding percentage.

Don Mattingly played a few games at third, Mike Squires as the backup catcher, Roger Connor played a whole season at 2B, and parts of 3 others at 3B, although he wasn't much of a hitter Bill McClellan played all three IF slots, Lefty Marr played a year at 3B in 1889 (306/407/414 not bad!), Wee Willie Keeler came up as a 3Bman....

Connor played his entire rookie season at third!

How about the all switch hitter team?

C-Ted Simmons/Jorge Posada
1B-Eddie Murray
2B-Roberto Alomar
3B-George Davis
SS-Ozzie Smith
LF-Tim Raines and Max Carey
CF-Mickey Mantle
RF-Ruben Sierra
DH-Chili Davis
UT-Pete Rose and Frankie Frisch
SP-Kid Nichols
SP-Robin Roberts
SP-Mordecai Brown with Ted Lyons starting only on Sundays
RP-Roy Face and Greg Minton

A hell of a team, if I do say so myself. Guys who missed the cut: Ken Singleton, Tony Fernandez, Red Schoendienst, Willie McGee and a bunch of other middle IF types. The pitchers could have had Tony Mullane and Red Faber among others.

Murray and Mantle were switch hitters, do they count?
Murray over Gehrig?
Sierra and Raines over Ruth or Williams?

I never thought I would see R Sierra or C Davis on any ALL-anything team!

You read that list wrong- he was writing a switch hitter list in response to my request, that's why Mantle and Murray are there (and all the others, and NOT Ruth and Williams)

I think that team he posted was in response to the question of an all switch-hitting team. All the players he listed were switchers.
