Was there a Dodger pitcher who broke his arm throwing from the mound. This would be in the '80's. His name is said to be Brian Dustin. True or false?

There hase never been a pitcher by that name. You may be thinking of Dave Dravecky of the Giants who broke his arm in a 1989 game after returning from cancer treatment for a tumor in his arm.

That was an awful moment. Anyone know what Dave's up to these days? Is he still cancer free?

Saunders originally suffered what was described as a spiral break of the left humerus on May 26, 1999 against the Texas Rangers. The second break occurred just above the other on the 33rd pitch of a scheduled four-inning appearance for the Devil Rays' Class A St. Petersburg affiliate, and left Saunders sprawled on the mound in pain.

tom browning and john smiley also broke their arms throwing

Dravecky eventually had to have his arm amputated from the cancer.

Yes, I believe that happened very soon after the broken arm.

Tony Saunders broke his arm pitching, then after healing and rehabilitaiton, broke it again while pitching in a minor league game. I did hear that last year he was trying to make a comeback, but he couldn't have gotten far because I've seen not one more word about him.

I remember when Dravecky broke his arm, too. :ughh Pretty awful.

during arthroscopic surgery on his pitching arm a tumor was discovered - surgery was performed, freezing the bone and half the deltoid muscle was removed - he made a comeback, winning his first start - the bone gave in the second start - it was mended but re-broke when someone fell on it during the victory celebration after the giants won the pennant in 1989

He is listed as playing for the Bowie Baysox last year but he doesn't have any stats listed...He may still be in the Orioles system still, depends on how he did last year.

Cancer free at the moment. He had to have his arm amputated, then he started his own Christian ministry, then a few years later (no joke here) got hit by a bus. Apparently he survived.

Just goes to show you: nothing good ever, ever comes from religion.

(yes, that last comment was probably inappropriate for the forum, and it's ok if a mod decides to delete it)

Hmm interesting, I dont see the connection between religon and getting hit by a bus, Dave Dravecky was one of the most noble players to ever play the game. And to bash him like that just shows you have little appreciation for decent human beings.
