Here's a nice little story about a 12-year old kid in Arkansas who saved $1000 in order to make a trip to New York to see the Yankees this summer, but instead donated all of the money to a charity drive aimed at keeping his school open. Steinbrenner got wind of this and he's making arrangements for the kid to still have that trip. Here's the article from ESPN.com. (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2329694)Anyway, I thought it was a nice article, and made me think that for all the guff Steinbrenner takes within the baseball world, he and the Yankees always seem to be at the forefront of charity.
