While I was looking up the averages for MArk Prior for wins in a season I noticed he was drafted by the Yankees in 1998 and then selected by the Cubs in 2001.

There is the link. Just look under the bio info.

Please don't ever post a topic with the title Prior a Yankee again. I thought you meant he had been traded! Don't do that to me!

I AGREE 100%

I am editing the title a bit, I hope that is ok..

FYI.. the old title said "Prior a Yankee" I am sure most will agree it is a bit misleading..

Prior was drafted by the Yankees but did not sign with them, instead choosing to go to college.

BA only lists the team who drafted and signed the player, not previous drafts in which he did not sign.

Folks it's true it's true, Prior was drafted by the Yankees as a supplemental pick in 1998 (43rd overall) for losing their 1st rounder Tyrell Godwin in 1997. But the Yanks waited too long to offer Mark a deal and didn't offer him enough money to forgo his college career.

Here's a link to a story by the New York Daily News entitled "Yankees regret not signing Prior" (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/story/90008p-81876c.html)

Other than throwing tons of cash at him, I don't think there is anything more they could have done. At least they drafted him.

prior was acually drafted by the marlins, then traded to the cubs for dontrelle willis, he never played a game with the marlins, and usually sources dont keep a close eye on those things, so thats why it dosent show him being drafted by the marlins

What?

March 27, 2002: Traded by the Chicago Cubs with Jose Cueto (minors), Ryan Jorgensen, and Julian Tavarez to the Florida Marlins for Antonio Alfonseca and Matt Clement.

MLB.com has every player ever drafted at it's site. Just use the above link and then select the year and the type of draft. It includes those drafted that never signed as well.

Not even close to being true. Prior was definitely drafted by the Cubs with the 2nd pick overall, just behind Joe Mauer of the Twins and ahead of Mark Teixiera of the Rangers.

I am not trying to beat the dead horse.. But for researching purposes I also wanted to throw in there:

March 27, 2002: Dontrelle Willis traded by the Chicago Cubs with Jose Cueto (minors), Ryan Jorgensen, and Julian Tavarez to the Florida Marlins for Antonio Alfonseca and Matt Clement.

So everyone is aware as to how Willis was dealt to the Marlins.

:)

Good Day!

Cubbie Blue I like your avatar. Why oh why did we trade Dontrelle. We should have taken his high windup as a gift, but instead we let him go for two pitchers who didnt do that much for us.
