MLB to increase the number free tickets given to disadvantaged children.

You could fill RFK with the disadvantaged children of DC for the entire season but it's nice to see that was a sticking point.

Read the last paragraph:

When the lease arrived at City Hall to be presented to the chair of the Council, the secretary of the Council rejected the document because it was "legally insufficient."

WTOP radio broke the news. In their broadcast they explained what this means is the agreement terms, once revised (made legal) might not make it back to city hall on time today, 5 pm, for the item to be placed on the council's agenda for next week.

This agreement addresses chairman Cropp's concerns but doesn't necessarily mean the council will have the seven votes needed to pass the lease. I see more problems ahead. There are those on the council who just won't vote for the stadium period.

That being said, I honestly believe a lease agreement and stadium bill will be passed. When...?

Or any large city, for that matter.

Cropp would not have signed off on this unless she felt she had
the votes. I'm betting it will be Schwartz and Mendelson that switch.
However, I'd feel much better about this if they had the vote NOW.
Bob Hannah is right when he said that some council members would
vote against this no matter what---they just see this as a frivolous
playground for suburbanites or folks west of Rock Creek Park.

I will not breathe easy until the vote is taken and this becomes
official.

Somebody pointed out that none of the concessions mentioned mentioned anything about a hard spending cap, which is what most of the eight objecting council members are arguing about. Does Cropp really think this will bring in two more council members?

Hopefully Cropp talked to some members leaning against it about which way they would lean if the changes to the deal were made and she got two.
