I am trying to confirm what name was on the front of the uniforms of the 1939 Browns. All the photographs I have been able to find that are readable show that they read "St. Louis". The Hall of Fame uniform database shows that home uniforms had "Browns" and the away uniforms had the "St. Louis". Black and white photos are hard to tell colorwise whether they are light grey(away) or off white(home)! Thanks for any help! Ringo-dog

I have been trying to find a photograph of a "home" uniform of the 1939 St Louis Browns. I asked for help in finding one to prove that they used the "Browns" name on them. All the pictures I had been able to find showed "St. Louis". Because of the nature of black and white photos I couldn't tell if they were "home" or "away". As is typical, once I went to the bother to post a request I found the answer within a day on my own! On EBAY (bless them)! I found a photo of Fred Haney wearing the "Browns" home uniform for 1939. The cap he is wearing is the 1939 one-year-only style! I guess the St Louis boys didn't think they needed pictures of the home team! Considering the record the 1939 Browns had I suppose I can see why!

Did you realise, on the away jerseys, you got STL on one side of the jersey and on OUIS on the other...
That's weird, cuz, nowadays, we're getting full words on each side of the jersey....

It's like STL()OUIS
