I have a new game that I am starting.It's a little different than the picture games in selected forums.

In this game,I will give you a stat,a historic game note,an individual accomplishment,or something completely off the wall.All you have to do is guess the player.Very simple.

I will start this off with this one;

This White Sox player once drove in 6 runs in 1 inning.Who is it?

Nellie Fox or Minnie Minoso are the 1st two names that come to mind.

Sorry,it's not those 2.

Note to self;Always start the game with an easy question.

The only Twins manager from the '60s I can think of is Sam Mele. I don't remember reading about him as a player, but it seems likely to me.

Just a bump here.

Another clue;

I lead the Sox with 14 home runs in 1976.

well in 1976, two players hit 14 home runs, jorge Orta, and Jim Spencer,
but my guess would be Jim Spencer

Well, in that case, just for a chance to win, I'll take Jorge Orta.

In my 2nd big league season on the hill,I set a team record with an .875 winning percentage.Who am I?

I just looked back in here. The only guy who jumped to mind for dazzling winning percentage was Sandy Consuegra, but the math is wrong for the 16-3 record he had one year.

What an outstanding defensive player Jim Spencer was. I can still remember some circus catches he made while playing first base for the NYY in the late 70's.

You're getting very close.It was Conueregra's mark that this pitcher broke.

I can't think of any White Sox pitcher that ever went 14-2. Are you perhaps going with a 7-1 mark as enough decisions to qualify? Rich Gossage did that, but it wasn't his second year.

Another clue, please?

OK,this may give it away.

Ah, OK. It's Jason Bere...boy, he was promising until the arm problems. Still, he hung around a long time.

There was a little typo that threw me -- 12-2 is .857.

Jason Bere is correct.:clapping I'll light one up for you.

In a 1957 game in Baltimore,I was given instructions to hold the ball for 3 minutes in a tie game so that the game could be suspended because of team curfew.Instead,I got antsy and threw a meatball to a future White Sox mamager for a walk-off home run.

Name both the pitcher and hitter in this situation.:cool:
