Former Dodger and Hall of Famer Eddie Murray offered the job as the Dodgers hitting coach. Not one single coach remains from Tracy's staff last season as many are now in Pittsburgh.

Steady Eddie is officially the Dodgers' hitting coach:

Me thinks this is a very good thing.

I believe it is too, especially when he hit 504 career home runs, and he spent three full years as a Dodger (1989-91), then signed with my former team, the Mets for two (92-93). He was an absolute monster, getting 3,000 career hits and 504 HRs. This sounds to be a very good move for the Dodgers, in my opinion.

Can he transfer his batting talents into coaching? I refer to a segment of the article referred by bhss89.

More pertinent, he was a hitting coach with Cleveland from 2002 until being dismissed last June by manager Eric Wedge.

What was his record at Cleveland and why was he dismissed?

I asn't in Cleveland when Murray was fired but it was probably more because of his being a holdover form the Charlie Manuel era that he was fired.

I think Murray will be a welcome addition. If you look at their coaching staff, there are numerous former Dodgers listed. This is a good way to get the "family" atmosphere in the clubhouse and build on the tradition of winning again.
