Yeah, Manny is the guy I was thinking. A handful of guys have a CHANCE at accomplishing the feat. Here’s what several guys would need each year to reach it in 2006, 07, or 08:

2007: Manny37 --- Carlos49 --- Raffy51 --- Thome52 --- Vlad54

So he’s the most likely in each of the next three years. Much further than that, and it's too much conjecture. Nevertheless, Manny still has the best start of those who could reach the plateau in 2009, if he hasn’t already:

Of course age is a big factor in this picture. Manny and Carlos are 33, Thome is 35, Sheffield is 37, and Raffy is 41 (uggh). Vladimir is only 29 and Andruw is only 28.

So the most LIKELY to be NEXT is Ramirez. Then maybe Thome and Delgado. And with Guerrero, and Jones… anything’s possible.

I'm talking about the "perfect" perfect game. Not these sorry excuses for pitching performances that are labeled as such right now in the books.

There are only two forms of a perfecto in baseball.

1) You throw 27 pitches and get 27 outs

or

2) You throw 81 pitches and get 81 whiffs from the 27 batters.

And that's it.

But more importantly, I'm working on a tribute recipe to Julio, based on mordeci's research. It's a combination of my famous baked bean recipe and some old world sausage that I get from the old country. This one will be called Julio Beans and Francos and will be a great hit at any tail gate party. Goes great with cornbread, too.

Here's one that I've been working on for the last couple of days. I'll be trying it out at a big NFL play-off gig I'm having at Mi Casa Kitchiola this week end. It's called Chili Davis Vera Cruz

It is a spicy mix of buffalo meat and ground venison, simmered for four hours in a bath of sweet and pungent herbs and vegetables.

I'll let you know how it turns out.
