Hello BBF
Here's another one of my crazy ideas:
Anybody who wishes to reply to this thread is a "GM".
Anybody who wishes to be a "GM" please submit your name before January 3rd at 8:00 AM EST. We need 6 volunteers(5 without myself). Those 6 volunteers will each represent one of the 6 divisions.
NL EAST, NL CENTRAL, NL WEST.
AL EAST, AL CENTRAL, AL WEST.
If I'm the GM of the NL East, then I'm the GM of the Braves, Nationals, Marlins, Phillies and Mets. I control these teams.
Example of a trade offer:
Yankees offer Hideki Matsui to Phillies for Bobby Abreu.
wilkerson_rulz must either reject, accept or review and negotiate this trade.
If wilkerson_rulz rejects this trade he must reply like this:
Wilkerson_rulz must chose of the following in his response.
He may accept the trade, reject it, reject it and still negotiate
1)Trade Accepted
2)Trade Rejected
3)Trade Rejected, Phillies will offer OF Pat Burrell for Hideki Matsui.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

You're allowed to be a co-GM of the AL EAST with YankeeLegend if you both agree.

I wish I could, but this is mostly for the "fantasy" players, of which I'm unfortunately not. I'll only offer my support in this thread, both as a forumer and a Mod.
I'm sure you'll have no problem finding 5 others, as a few have already expressed interest.
Best of luck! :)

Trade Rejected (Dont need another 3Bman, and need to hold on to Perez as our starting pitching is weak. We feel we can get more for Izturis from a team with a need at SS rather than a team with an established SS already there.)
baseballknoitall (NL West, LA Dodgers) offers to Boston Red Sox (AL East, Yankee Legend) SS Cesar Izturis and OF Jason Repko for SP David Wells, SP/RP Lenny DiNardo, SP Abe Alvarez, and OF Brandon Moss
-Izturis could be a mainstay at SS for Boston for years to come, and waiting for him to return from injury would be worth the wait. Graffanino at SS for the first portion of the season would not hurt. Repko is a young up and coming outfielder who has tons of potential and had a pretty decent rookie year for LA. He could probably move over to CF and fill in the Sox's hole there. DiNardo is still young and has spent a few years in the minors. He will be competing for a bullpen spot in Spring Training with the Red Sox. His ceiling doesnt appear any higher than a 4, maybe a 3 starter. Same could be said for Alvarez. Brandon Moss is a good AA outfield prospect. Hard to project how his career will pan out. So considering Wells, 40+ years old, injury prone has stated that if he is not traded he will likely retire, might as well get value for him in the form of a young SS and Outfielder who both could potentially be mainstays in Boston for years.
Yankee Legend (AL East, Boston Red Sox) offers to trade 1B Kevein Youkilis to BasEbaLlKnoItAll (NL West, San Francisco Giants) for CF Randy Winn.
Lets wait and see what happens regarding your pending trade with the Dodgers, then we can discuss this more.

BasEbaLlKnoItAll

Alright, Stewart it is.
Deal!!
The San Francisco Giants have traded star franchise player, and possible eventual Home RUn King, Barry Bonds, to the Minnesota Twins for pitcher Carlos Silva and outfielder Shannon Stewart, who will likely be Bonds' replacement, or used as trade bait if San Francisco comes up with a more adequate solution. If held onto, Stewart would likely slip into the leadoff position, replacing Randy Winn, who will be replaced in Center Field by newly acquired Steve Finley. Trade talks have taken place between the Giants and Red Sox concerning Randy Winn, but have been put on hold forthe time being. Silva will likely be the number three or number four starter in the San Francisco rotation, featuring newly signed Matt Morris. San Francisco was also able to move Bonds only paying $6 million of his $21 million contract. This is expected to come as an unpopular move by the Giants' fans, and Barry has yet to comment on the trade, which came about quietly in about two days.
The Minnesota Twins have acquired a legitimate superstar in Bonds, something they have not had since the days of Kirby Puckett. The Twins usually field a team of very talented, young players. Their biggest star prior to the addition of Bonds would have been considered to be center fielder Torii Hunter, who progressed through the Twins organization. The addition of Bonds to the Twins will likely increase their fan base, total home attendance, and merchandise profits while also increasing Bonds' Home Run total. Playing in the American League would allow him to DH for the Twins, increasing his durability, which is what convinced him to waive his no-trade clause. The Twins new corner outfield will likely consist of Lew Ford and Jason Kubel, or Rondell White, or a platoon by the two, pending further moves by GM KingJ.

OK, so this is a done deal.
The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers today agreed to a trade involving David Wells. In return, the Red Sox will receive outfielder Jason Repko, who had a productive rookie year, in addition to $1.5 million. Dodgers GM baseballknoitall commented briefly on the deal, "We are happy to add a starter of David's caliber to our rotation. We expect him to be a great addition and are thrilled to have him. Of coarse we are disappointed about losing Repko, but it is the price that had to be paid."
Early in the offseason, Wells requested a trade out of Boston to a West coast team. It was rumored that his preference was to be traded back to San Diego, which many people expected to happen, with the Red Sox receiving a package including Dave Roberts. However, the Red Sox became less interested with the Padres after they shipped reliever Akinori Otsuka to Texas earlier in the month. They then explored other trade possibilities, resulting in the deal with the Dodgers.
The trade is pending physicals of both players.

Happy to get this one done.
Despite comments made by Omar Minaya earlier in the day claiming that the rumored talks between the Mets and the Padres regarding a swap of shortstops, the two teams agreed to a deal. In the original talks the Mets offered to throw cash considerations into the deal, however the Padres' financial request was more then the Mets were willing to pay. In an attempt to get the deal done, Padres GM Kevin Towers offered a trade of the two shortstops without any cash considerations being included. Towers had these comments regarding the acquisition of Reyes, "Jose Reyes is an electrifying player who appears to only be improving. We are excited about adding him to our team. Although letting Greenie go was difficult, players such as Reyes dont come around in the market everyday."
Green was touted as the Padres' Shortstop of the future and their franchise player.
Reyes should fare fairly well at Petco Park with his speed and contact bat. Look for his amount of triples to increase.
Note; this trade is pending physicals of both players.

NEW YORK-Associated Press
Today, Mets' GM wilkerson_rulz finalized a trade that would send SS Jose Reyes to the Padres for SS Khalil Greene. Earlier today, Mets' GM wilkerson_rulz dismissed the trade but some time later agreed.
He reportedly agreed because the Padres removed the tag-line "and cash" from the offered trade.
GM wilkerson_rulz was not available for comment.
The trade is pending physicals, which Reyes will take next week.
Assistant GM Eddiejc1 describe Greene as "a phenomenal player on and off the field."
Reyes had been the subject of many trade rumours this offseason and he is happy the deal came through:
"I needed a change, Reyes said of New York, playing for the Mets was hard. Everyone expects big things out of you."

Since the free-agency frenzy is days away, as I will be for the next couple of days. I have decided to write the rules on offering free-agent players contracts.
1) The Gm must p'm Go Bravos to make an offer. Public offers are not tolerated.
2) Every GM has 40Million to spend in the FA market.
(e.g) In a p'm, I would propose like this:
WAS offers SP Jeff Weaver a 3 year deal worth 30 million dollars.
If the player accepts my offer, I must divide 30/3 =10 million a year.
So... 40 million$-10 million$ = 30 million dollars.
Get the picture?
3)If a Player-agent rejects your offer, he may either give you permission to keep negotiating or he may dismiss you permanently. Once a PA has dismissed you, the Gm no longer has permission to offer a contract to him.
Need some help ratifying these!

ATTENTION OFFSEASON TRANSACTION GAME PARTICIPANTS!
wilkerson_rulz and I have discussed making the final rosters of this game into a Yahoo! Baseball Fantasy League for 2006.
Do you guys like that idea?
We would probably have to trim the number of teams down to about 15 or 16 (depending on how many a Yahoo! League allows).
Also, if anyone knows a free fantasy website that would allow us to have 30 teams, please post it.

When the season starts does anyone else (including E-Banks and myself) want to join in on a fantasy league.

Attention all Gm's.
E.Banks#14 and myself have decided we will join in on Yahoo! Fantasy baseball 2006 next season.
If any GM wishes to enter, he must randomly choose two teams from his division(this rule is made so the GM's wont fortify specific teams).
After 2 teams are randomly selected, the team's fantasy rosters will be the same as our rosters here.
If any GM wishes to join, kindly make a new account at Yahoo!'s Fantasy Baseball League next season.
Your username must be the same as in Baseball Fever or we won't be able to recognize you!

Arizona Diamondbacks offer C Robby Hammock to the Yankees for either:
1) RP Scott Proctor and 2B Shelley Duncan
2) RP Scott Proctor, 1B Mitch Jones, and 2B Coaname Cosme (sp)
Hammock is extremely versatile and is close with Randy Johnson. Considering that Joe has stated that he would like to DH Posada a little bit more often this year a 3rd catcher is required, and having a 3rd catcher who can play other positions (Hammock can play 3rd, the outfield, and im sure if needed can play 1st, dont know how much experience he has though) rather than having a 3rd catcher who can only catch, which would kill the defensive depth off the bench.
As a Yankee fan I would love for the Yankees to have Hammock.

Why should San Diego sign him (you made reference to Bellhorn)?? He is a 1B/DH who cannot play 1B very well anymore. Having him in San Diego for the amount he would command would do nothing but hurt the team. He is better off going to an AL team. However, we here at the San Diego Padres understand what he could provide and if the money was right we would consider persuing him. Press Release:
BALTIMORE-12/31 Oriole fans remorse as they witnessed one of the best all-around players being traded to the Chicago Cubs. All-Star shortstop Miguel Tejada left Baltimore to join his team in Chicago. Tejada's 2005 season was still impressive hitting .304 with 26 homeruns and 98 RBI's. Though Tejada's numbers may have gone down from his stellar 2004 season he is still amongst the elite of today's ballplayers. The Cubs can certainly use another big bat like his to drive in guys like newly aquired centerfielder Juan Pierre. With both Tejada and Derek Lee in the lineup, the Cubs now have an order perhaps just as deadly as that of the rival Cardinals.
However, the O's did not get the short end of the stick in this trade as the Cubs had to give away multi-talented pitcher Mark Prior. Prior who once again posted an incredible 3.67 ERA and 188 K's despite playing on a losing team. The loyal north-siders were certainly unhappy about the popular pitcher's departure to Baltimore. Now that the O's have Prior, they can have a rotation that can compete with the Yankees and Red Sox. In addition to acquiring Prior, the O's also ggot Shortstop Neifi Perez whose aggresiveness and glove will be useful as the Orioles try to rebuild from a disappointing season.

ok then how about this:
kelly johnson, hampton and thorman for mora and $1 million
Trade Accepted:D
Now let's see...
In a stunning ove the Atlanta Braves GM today dealt veteran pitcher Mike Hampton, young outfielder Kelly Johnson and prospect Scott Thorman to the Baltimore Orioles. In return Atlanta will receive Melvin Mora.Mora can play 3B and CF. The Braves are expected to move Mora to LF, if not, they will move Chipper Jones back to his original spot in LF.
Brave's GM wilkerson_rulz commented on the trade:
"We are very happy to get Melvin Mora. Mora is a speedy player who can play both IF and OF who posesses an incredible bat. We hope Atlanta will be able to help him return to his 2004 form."
Mike Hampton was acquired by Baltimore today. Sources indicate that wilkerson_rulz had been trying to trade Hampton since his first day because : "he wasn't putting up numbers, he spends too much time on the DL and he is "overpaid"."

KingJ, do you have a decision on my proposal:
Seo for Greinke?
Rejected.
Cleveland Indians offer Frank Thomas a 1yr/$900,000 contract with a team option for 2007 worth $1.5 million.

I want Greinke. Not willing to give up Benson AND Seo for some crap players.
Emil Brown is a good RF with a decent bat, Denny Bautista is a prospect who was called up too early, and Hernandez has the same stats as Greinke.

Since Wilkerson_rulz traded away Langerhans and Johnson to leave a gap in LF, the Indians offer Coco Crisp to the Braves for Kyle Davies, Wilson Betemit, and $500,000.

If you have signed any Free Agents who retire before the start of the 2006 season, the contracts you have with them become void. You would not have to pay them any money; it would be as though you never signed them.

NOTE TO ALL GM"S.
Don't forget your 40 million$ budgets per team.
(e.g.) If WAS signed Kevin Millwood to a one-year contract (10 million) then $40 million-10 million$ =30 million$ remaining.
GET IT?
Once a FA is signed please keep track and you cannot pass 40 million.

The $40 Million budget is only for the first year of the contracts, right? For inmstance, if I signed Player A to a 4 year/$40 Million dollar contract I would have only used $10 Million of my $40 Million budget. Correct?
