Good to see him back in the US - especially so we can see and comment on his batting stance again. Anyone know if he's still using the unorthodox open stance? I hope it didn't get tweaked while he was in Japan.

Decent pick up for the Twins too - but I'm a little biased after the great seasons he had with the Jays and Expos.

He was still using that stance in Japan, here is some video of him batting over there.

It is also video of the pitcher scaring himself thinking Batista was charging the mound, but he was just taking a wide turn I guess.

Tony Batista...only guy i can think of capable of hitting 30 homers and still having a lower OPS than Neifi Perez.

Yea I'm hopin Batista will be the 30 hr guy. He adds something to the lineup that everyone can build on. He'll help out people and be helped out by people, even though he strikes out a lot. It's not a great lineup, but certainly won't be last in the majors in runs scored again.

During his last season with the Expos he started off very slow but finished with a bang. In the first 2 months of the season he had only 4 HR's. He finished the year with 32 taters. His Career splits indicate this is the norm, but 2004 seemed to be an exagerrated version of this.

Great Stance. I don't know if it's the stance that does it, but when he hits a HR, it's almost always a bomb. It's either all or nothing with this guy. No squeakers.

Very ackward stance! Had 40 HR power for the Jays, but never duplicated those stats at all.

He is still using the open stance. I went to the weekend series against the Yankees. Seemed to have his hitting timing down, but his range leaves something to be desired! Still fun to watch him hit, even with the expanding waistline:D .
