Should we expell Raffy from the game or is he already?

The player's union wouldn't allow Raffy to be expelled from the game, even if the new rules were retroactive.

He hasn't been expelled, but I believe he should be.
What do you think about the matter, Brian?

It's a moot point, though, since he can't be expelled... at least not "officially".

The fans are already doing a number on him. He had a at least a year left in him and now it is dobtful anyone will pick him up. He was not the only one who cheated but probably will go down as one of the worst. He's MLB's biggest SCAPE GOAT. McGuire and a few other should be put in the same category.:grouchy

Even if we assume McGuire did it, I don't think he did anything that was against the rules. For ages, it was routine for players to take speed, especially in the latter part of the season. It's a different kind of performance enhancing drug, but nobody ever made a stink about it. Even now, there's nothing stopping them from taking Human Growth Hormone.
So, what's the issue? Whether they took something? Or whether or not "that something" was against the rules of the sport? If it's just a matter of taking something, where do you draw the line?

The truly sad part is that if he hadn't wagged his finger at Congress and had actually opened up and cooperated with the investigation, the fans probably would have not only accepted him back, but made him into a hero for it.

Absolutely. I always liked Raffi myself. By wagging his finger the way he did, he will now always be remembered not only as a cheater, but a liar. Without the theatrics, most fans would have seen him, upon his being caught, as an aging star who was desperate to hold onto his glory. He's made it much more than that.

At age 41 coming off two mediocre seasons and a steroids conviction he ahs basically expelled himself from the game. He would have to find a team that desperate for a mediocre 1B/DH.
