Good morning Baseball Fever Members, Moderators, Guests & Lurkers.

This morning the forum was closed to put in a new sytem upgrade. We apologize for this incovenience and for the extended amount of time it took to get the system back online. We started at 4:11 a.m. and expected to be done by 5:30 a.m., but here I am writing this "it's ready" post at 7:13 a.m. My apologies. Though they are mostly technical in nature, the main upgrades are below and it easily the most significant upgrade in the last year for us:

Spell Checker Hook Added
Product/Plugin system with over 550 'hook' locations strategically placed in the code. Allows modification and extension of vBulletin without physical alteration of the vBulletin PHP scripts.
Inline moderation allows multiple threads or posts to be have moderation actions performed without a visit to the admin or moderator control panels
Completely rewritten message editor with ability to instantly switch between standard and WYSIWYG modes
Thread title editing on forumdisplay via AJAX
Thread opening and closing on forumdisplay via AJAX
Super-Quick Reply on showthread via AJAX
Inline post edit on showthread via AJAX
Username suggestion for PM recipients and search by user via AJAX
Data manipulation APIs (Data Manager) for centralized data saving
Template History & Comparison for easy tracking of changes
Database-based thread and forum read marking
MySQL Full Text Search
Additional Datastore Storage Methods
SMTP Mail Wrapper
MySQLi Wrapper
PHPDoc'd Source Code
Moderator log language abstraction
Webkit support for style manager color picker
ImageMagick 6 Support (alternative to GD)
Calendar events support start/end times
Custom avatar and profile picture resizing
Profile pictures can be saved to filesystem
Statistics ordering
Each attachment image type can be individually set to generate thumbnails or not
Each attachment image type can be individually set to open in a new window or not
Moderated posts and threads do not contribute to post count until approved
Language chooser in footer
New bbcode parser now corrects invalid tag nesting to ensure valid HTML
New [attach] bbcode tag for placing attachments inline with messages
New [noparse] bbcode tag for disabling bbcode parsing within
Word wrap excludes contents of PHP/CODE/HTML blocks
Search engine spider configuration via XML file
New 'Can View Thread Content' permission
New 'Can Upload Animated GIF' permission
Attachment upload via URL in addition to local upload
New (hopefully foolproof) method for setting cookiepath/cookiedomain
Forum description field no longer limited to 250 characters
Completely rewritten Paid Subscriptions system - now known as Payment APIs. New support for 2checkout, Worldpay and Authorize.net
'Always Moderate Group Posts' permission replaced with more logical 'Follow Forum Moderation Rules' permission
Threads containing posts awaiting moderation have indicator icon on forumdisplay for moderators
Right-to-left language support improved
Additional 'Execute SQL' auto-queries added
Image verification for sendmessage to avoid spam issues
Improved registration image verification to out-fox those pesky bots
Control panel navigation controlled by XML for easier addition of links
Upgrade system now imports styles/languages/options only after upgrade complete rather than after each script
Ability to preview signature edits
Calendar event email reminders
And of course, numerous bugs and annoyances resolved.

Enjoy and I'll be monitoring the system closely today to resolve any open issues that might arise.

The spell checking feature is / was the single most requested feature here on Baseball Fever. The good news is it is here, it works flawlessly and since it is a plug-in it will work not just on Baseball Fever - but rather every site you visit where data is entered.

The bad news is it only works with Internet Explorer. It is a completely free, completely ad-aware / advertisement / mal-ware free, and effortless plug in. It has won numerous awards including a PC Magazine Editor's Pick and PC World seal of approval. The plug-in is called iespell (http://www.iespell.com/) and their site is inside the link in this sentence for those who wish to view it first.

The download is available here from c/net: IESpell 2.1.1 build 325 (http://www.download.com/3000-2378_4-10208550.html)

Enjoy!

Sean

This is definitely a WOW, Sean. It will take a little time to re-program the brain, but it will!

Perhaps I am just not seeing it, but the "Color" used to be located next to the Fonts and Sizes. Can you please direct me to to it now.

Thanks.

It's taking forever to load this stuff on my page.

Wow, does my screen look WEIRD! Maybe because I'm using Mozilla FireFox, but at the top where it used to say "Welcome, VTSoxFan... you last logged in at" and telling me whether I had any PMs waiting, there is now a large gray box with "Edit Avatar" in the middle. And just below the BBF logo, there is a long narrow gray box with what appears to be the menu of the User CP. I'm sure I'll eventually be able to find everything, eventually. It's going to take some exploration, tho. It just looks really strange.

After reading the list of upgrades, I wonder if I'm technologically qualified to be here! :crazy

I have a huge problem with these new upgrades, I can't click on them! I still have all the same options on the tool bar above the message box, but I can't click on them. They don't shade when I rest my pointer anymore, and when I try to click on them, nothing happens. I can't boldface, underline, or intalicize text, use the spell checker, insert an image, code, or hyperlink. I can't do any of those anymore, because I can't click on the icons. Could anyone help me here?

Where you see that "A" next to the Size button, click that, and that will be your color mode. When you click the "A",a little screen will pop up with different colors.Just pick out your color that you wish to choose.

Thanks, Chisox73! I just figured it out a little while ago.

A spell checker... Sean, I think I'm speaking on behalf of all of the moderators when I say...THANK YOU!!! I can't stop drooling. While this can't help with some of the less than All-Star caliber content that gets posted here from time to time, this at least saves us a lot of work attempting to translate a lot of it.

I like the way you can edit posts now, instead of going into the next screen it justs pops up and you can edit. ;) (Sean is the greatest!)

I have exactly the same problem. Have you solved it, 538280? If anyone else has, please post it here because I'm sure we're not the only two with this issue.

ok I found a couple things to test, when one of you two are online we can go over them, if we find the issue we then can post it.

I do not just want to post what I found, because it may not be the issue.

and by posting a fix, this could cause some users to chase their tail with no solutions.

Sean if I am thinking correctly before when you changed your signature, it would update to all the post you had ever left, now I see that is not the case, is that something with the new upgrade?

I notice that many members in History Forum still aren't using their spell checkers. So, I'd like to remind the newcomers that we have a spell checker installed here.

After you finish your post, before you hit, 'submit reply', look in the top right corner for the small check mark, with the little ABC over it. That is your spell checker.

Click onto it and it will correct your spelling. Thank you for putting up with Hall Monitor. Carry on, gentlemen.
