Well, I like Rawlings. Wilson isn't too bad either, but Rawlings definatly takes the cake on this one.

McGreagor is the worst brand of equipment I have expereinced. Very cheap and you get what you pay for.

You must also realize that there are some brands that just relable other manufacturers product to fill up their equipment line.

I say Champro is the worst overall brand. The best for gloves/mitts is Nokona (or Nocona?). For wood bats I like LS, Easton for metal, Mizuno for plastic (not much competition there). Bike baseball clothes are great.

They sell a line of George Brett equipment here in The Philippines...it's horrible stuff.

McGreagor is the worst brand of equipment I have expereinced. Very cheap and you get what you pay for. My last two mitts have been McGregor's, and they've proven to be just fine, thank you. I don't recall either being very cheap at all, but no matter what the initial expense, no brand is going to hold up long if you don't take care of it, i.e., keep the leather oiled and out of the elements. My Easton chest protector (for umpiring) has worked out well, at least after I beefed up some of the padding right at the old shoulder bone area.

For amateurs I like Baum Bats. People say that they don't have as much of pop, but you can't break them and you don't lose that much in pop.

Aren't those the warmup bats with the red plastic shell?
I think that you're busting on us...

You're thinking of the Bratt Bat. Baum bats are a composite bat.

Sorry, my mistake! Never seen these before...I bought a few Hoosier composite bats years ago that were finger-jointed sections of ash, hickory, and maple, but these are a little more sophisticated.

Did you like the Hoosiers?

No question Louisville Slugger for aluminum bats

Agree 110%!! My Louisville Slugger TPX Platinum(32in/29oz) is hands down the best bat I have ever owned. Expensive but well worth it.
There is a batting cage near my house that whips out pitches at 91mph. At 91 mph, needless to say, if I don't hit it right on the barrel, I used to get a shock in my wrist and hands. Ever since I got the TPX, I don't get that shock. And despite my limited skills and many balls being hit away from the barrel, the balls still travel nicely in a line drive. Plus it makes the sweetest sound I ever heard from an aluminum bat.:)

Hellborn,
Did you like the Hoosiers?
Hey Riverhawk,
They felt very unbalanced to me...the hickory barrels were very heavy and I found the whole effect very strange with the ash handle. I had two and used each a few times in BP, never tried them in games. I had a teammate who was extremely strong, powerlifter I think, and he took a liking to one and used it in several games. I seem to remember that he had trouble getting the ball in the air with that bat, though, mostly hit sharp grounders with a lot of bite through the infield.
If you're interested in one or both and have any bats that you would like to trade, let me know! My Hoosiers are over 10 years old now, but should still be in pretty good shape...they are very well made, good quality materials and workmanship. The finger joints are things of beauty.

Ya I didn't mean it that way. To get a picture (it doesnt have to be yours because Im obviously not Al Capone) Okay go to User CP up near the top of the page where you see User CP, FAQ, Members list, its the first one. Then, on the page it brings you to click on edit avatar (on the left side of the page) and then you can choose one of theirs, which are pretty good, or put in your own custom that is lees than 60x60 pixels

Nokona makes the best mitts. If not for the sole fact that they still are made in the USA.

Stay away from Mizuno wood bats.

why? I have one . It's great and super balanced for a maple bat

Nakona for gloves with out a doubt.

The light weight Nokona's have a reputation for easily losing their shape. The stiffer ones are heavier. My son can use Nokona's for free (he has to give the glove back at the end of the school year). He says his Wilson A2K is a much better glove.

For my money its-

Wood- LS M9
Metal- LS Omaha
Glove- Rawlings
Cleats- Nike

Others- Baum bats are indestructible. It's a pretty sure thing that the only things that will survive a nuclear war are cockroaches, twinkies, and Baum bats.

I've heard tons of good things about Nokona gloves but never used one.

Brett maple bats aren't too shabby, but you might as well go up with a pillow in your hands if you wanna hit their bamboo bats. Sure they're durable, but you have a better chance of hitting the ball farther by slapping it with your hand, than you do with the bamboo bats.
