I was thinking about making an all-time dbacks team...

Here's my line-up

C- uhhh maybe Chris Snyder because catcher is a defensive position in my opinion
1B- Mark Grace, Travis Lee, or Tony Clark
2B- Craig Counsell
3B- Troy Glaus
SS- Jay Bell
LF- Luis Gonzalez
CF- Devon White
RF- Danny Bautista, Tony Womak, or Shawn Green

SP- Randy Johnson (duh)
SP- Curt Shilling (another duh)
SP- Omar Daal (he was good in '99)

RP- Matt Mantei (before surgery)
RP- Byung-Hyug Kim (he had his moments)

Steve Finley has to be your centerfielder--when did Devon White play for the dbacks?

Rightfield is the tough position as they have not consistently had someone out there.

I didn't know that Devon White only played for one year (1998) until i looked it up. :atthepc

I should put finley on there. I miss his fielding ability, he always got a great jump on the ball. :(

G-Force, I'll have to disagree on your choice for 3rd baseman. I can't take away his contributions to the D-backs, but Matt Williams did more for them than Glaus has done. So far.

I agree. Hopefully Glaus will wind up as their all-time best third baseman (just like Green will hopefully eventually fill that role in right field), but even with a team as young as this, it's difficult to base their "all-time" anything on half of a season. This is especially true in comparison to Williams who had 595 games with the club.

with that said, not counting Mark Grace (for obvious reasons)

My favorite Dback to watch was Erubiel Durazo. he ALWAYS went 100% on everthing he did.

Can a mod who is knowledgabke about Diamondbacks history add a poll to this thread?

I want the results for the All-Time position by position battle. I have a thread about it in the history forum if you're interested.

Another vote for Durazo. He really went all-out. Also another vote for Craig Counsell. He's that guy who's stats aren't great, but he made some very clutch plays in both fielding and batting, especially in the World Series.

He last played in 2005... Not sure what happened with him, but yes he ended his career with the A's...

Counsell's hustle can't be denied either, he is alot like David Eckstein, if he depended only on athletic ability he might not be that good, but you add heart and dedication... he is a solid player.

Tony Womack has to be the SS. He has 2 of the 3 biggest hits in Dback history. His double vs the Cards to win the pennant, and his double in game 7 off of Mariano Rivera to help set up Gonzo's Super Blooper to beat the Yankees.
