Dubois and Mitre is what I am offering. Lets discuss

we will end up talking to ourselves...

There are not many FLA fans here...

we should recuit some to debate this one...

Not really. :waving

Looking at the slump that Pierre is encountering, I think that in order for the Marlins to give up Pierre to the Cubbies, it would have to be a bat for a bat. Pierre is no Pujols so he shouldn't be extremely valuable, but then again I think it can very well be that the fish will be agressive in trade talks.

Well I said the other day that the Marlins might not want to give the Cubs the missing link to wrap up the wild card spot.

Do you agree with that?

we need someone who can get on base, and stay on base til the big bats make it to the plate...

Pierre would be that person. Dubois would be a great even trade I think.

Simple... Dubois is a prospect. Pierre is without a doubt beyond his peak. (IMO) so I think getting Dubois would help FLA in the longrun... and getting Pierre would help the Cubs this season...

Works for me.

Agreed on, CubsHub. :coffee It would help out both teams in the long run if Dubois and Mitre for Pierre happened.

This is classic, CubsHub, really putting the humor into that post!

I can only hope that this can be one of the key things that the Cubs need to raise their game to another level, and as for the Marlins, I believe they'll gain from the trade as well if this trade is made.

Well, I think Hendry will pull off a HUGE trade again..

2 years ago it was A-Ram, Lofton and Simon...

All supported the team deep into the postseason.

Last year was Nomar... Great idea, did not work out as well..

This year?!? who knows..

We need one more SOLID pitcher. and a leadoff hitter...
the only thing is I dont want to lose anything in return.

I have been on Corey's case lately... but I still don't want to see him gone... I just want him to walk more often...

Dubois, Wellemeyer, Mitre and Borowski all could be included in a trade, along with a slew of minors....

Other then that... leave the team as is.

:)
please.

I pray to God that Hendry is concocting this as we speak. If he pulls off a trade for Juan Pierre without losing much, he would be the greatest GM ever.

I would MYSELF would pull a blockbuster trade, that would help both teams right away. Burnitz, Patterson, Dubois, Mitre AND Rusch for Cabrera, Pierre and one of their pitchers.

TELL ME THAT AINT A DEAL!!! LETS DO THIS!!! :clapping

Imagine our outfield, Cabrera, Pierre, Hollandsworth/Hairston. WOW. Check out this potent lineup

Pierre
Perez/Garciaparra
D Lee
Cabrera
Ramirez
Walker
Hollandsworth
Barrett

Is Pierre a FA at the end of the season, and if so, what is the likelihood he'll stay in Florida? If the Marlins fall out of contention, I'm guessing that Pierre will likely be traded mid-season.

Sounds like the Yankees want him, please I hope any team gets him but the Yankees.

I think he'd be a perfect fit for the Yankees :)

Yankees need a leadoff man more than the Cubs? I think not! We are desperate lol, so really he is the perfect fit for the Cubs. Yanks, you guys don't need no more players come on leave some for us :D

he sure would...George would jump at that in a heartbeat, thats the whole reason he signed Lofton, to have his own version of Pierre; a quick, speedy, leadoff centerfielder. Now of coarse i would prefer Damon, but Pierre is a good second option :laugh

though i believe Pierre is a free agent following the 2006 season, i think the Marlins have an option following this season..not positive though

I came here to ask Marlins fans if they thought Pierre's lack of arm strength was a defensive liability. Apparently I've taken a wrong turn and stumbled into a 1932 World Series reunion.

I think George will sign Damon instead of going after Pierre. Pierre would look great in a Phillies uniform, but Ed Wade will see to it that it will not happen. More than likely, he'll get traded to the Cubs in his walk year.

Were not giving up Pierre, sorry. He loves the Marlins and doesn't want to leave...especially to a team who hasn't won the WS since my great, great, great, great, great, grandfather was alive.

If you guys would like to discuss this further click on the link in my signature and chat with other marlin fans about it.

Are the Marlins really going to give large contracts to:
Dontrelle Willis, Miguel Cabrera, Josh Beckett & Juan Pierre?

I think no and if any get traded, it's probably Pierre.

Yes. They will all be recieving long term contracts. The Marlins aren't considering giving them up whatsoever.

I have bookmarked this thread, to come back to it when 2 of those 4 players are wearing another teams uni's before next season.

I don't think this team can afford to have that high of a payroll..

:)

IMO...

are yu talking with your heart or you head??

unless you are an assistant to Jeff Loria...that sounds terribly naive.......

I guarantee you the Marlins will resign Dontrelle Willis, Miguel Cabrera, Josh Beckett & Juan Pierre.

thats mighty big of you considering that almost all of them are under contract for
2006...I think except for Pierre....

and I sure don't think he derserves a raise off his hitting this year....hopefully Pinella will be here to light a fire under his A***S
next year....

but when arbitration comes calling or when they get to their "walk" years...like Burnett they will go elsewhere....Loria will say he can't afford to keep them...like ie.
Armando Benitez...why didn't they resign him???
