Whitey Lockman? He spent the majority of his career with the NEW YORK Giants, and played only one season in San Franciso as a part time player (122 at bats) hitting .238.

My list is the same as buckthis' list.
These lists tell me a few things. Like the Giants never have had much luck with left handed starters. Guys like McCormick and Ron Bryant had one great season and not much else. Bob Knepper was serviceable for a while, but clearly not a star. And who knows how good Dave Dravecky would have been, (however I treasure the memory of his Game 2 1987 NLCS 2 hitter against the Cards). Here's to hoping that Noah Lowry changes this for the Giants
Also, the same can be said about catcher. Bob Brenly is a nice guy and a decent catcher, but not hardly an all-star (except against John Candelaria!!). But if you alternative is Tom Haller, well, neither is exactly Fisk or Piazza.
But the OF is a no-brainer, as is 3B and 2B. You can make an arguement for the Thrill, but Stretch is a HOFer, and that has to win out.
KH14<--who happened to watch TWIB this AM on ESPN Classic and they showed Lil' Joe's HR in 1982 that knocked the Bums out of the playoffs! That was a good day. Also had a Guy Sularz sighting in it! :laugh

I looked at a lot of players for this list and fell on a guy named Ron Bryant who won 24 games in 74 and then declined drasticaly. Does anyone know his story?

bryant sustained a very serious back injury in a freak diving board accident.
apparently alcohol was a contributing factor.
1974 with the giants: 3-15 (41 g, 23 gs, 126+ inn, 142h, 115bb, 23hr)
traded to the cards, where he was cut after going 0-1, 8+ inn, 20 h, 7bb, 2hr in but ten games in '75.
a disastrous career after being tabbed by the sporting news as the national league's pitcher of the year in 1973.

Yikes, all those great players and yet I never actually looked at how lacking they were in the catching department.

i'm goin' with felipe alou, kevin mitchell, jack thomas and robby thompson.

vida and sanford as the two additional starters.
lavelle, minton and williams are my relievers.

Can a mod who is knowledgabke about Giants history add a poll to this thread? Can you also include New York giants players
I want the results for the All-Time position by position battle. I have a thread about it in the history forum if you're interested.
