The Cuban Panini at Jacobs Field is good.

The Pamani(sp) Bros sandwitch at PNC is good.

Nothing special at either Chicago parks.

I am partial to Skyline Cheese Coneys and Chocolate covered cheesecake on a stick at Great American ballpark.

Spelled Primanti's. You actually liked it? I think they're crap. I live in Philly, my inlaws live in Pittsburgh (in fact, I am there now).

At Citizens Bank Park they have Bull's BBQ (after Luzinski). Well they have a turkey leg meal that outstanding. It's a HUGE turkey legs with cole slaw and baked beans for like $8. That's pretty cheap for ballpark food.

Best ballpark food ever though? The hoagie and bag of peanuts I brought in with me!

There isn't anything wrong with the Primanti's sandwich at the ballpark. I guess the idea of all the side dishes ON the sandwich is a foreign concept on that side of the state. Don't get me wrong I love Philly cheesesteaks, but haven't been to Citizens Bank park yet. I remember when I went to the Vet there was a great cheesesteak place right off Broad st. I think it was right under the Whitman Bridge underpass, anyway it was within walking distance of the Vet and it was great! Is it still around? Anyhow outside of Pittsburgh my favorite ballpark food is Boog's BBQ at Camden Yards, I also like the crabcakes there as well. I'll definitely be looking to expand my culinary horizons thru the years and get to see more parks.

I don't mind the side dishes on Primanti's sandwich's, it's the meat I don't like. They tend to use the cheapest stuff they can find. I don't know. I like the coleslaw, cheese, egg and fries on the sandwich. It's not my cup of tea. I am in Pittsburgh right now (visiting the inlaws) and since I have nothing to do, maybe I'll ride down to the Southside now for one. Give em a second shot.

Back before 9/11 the food I liked the best at the ballpark was the food that my wife and I could take ourselves without being scalped at the concessions stand. Because of the limit on the size of packs brought into the ballpark we're pretty much forced to purchase food at the ballpark.

The food that smells the best are the garlic fries, but they're so greasy they upset my stomach. I love BBQ, and Greg Luzinski's turkey legs sound pretty good, but it's a bit messy to be eating at the ballpark. (I ate a BBQ turkey leg at the state fair last summer. Yummy!)

My wife and I usually get a specialty sausage (they have several types) at the Coliseum. They're pretty good, and with a little skill you can eat them without wearing them. ;)

Does anyone else remember when wine coolers were all the rage? It was so strange sitting in the bleachers having the vendors serve wine coolers instead of beer.

I've only been to one ball park, Fenway, but the food i got there was good. Cheesesteak and some peanuts and popcorn thing which i can't remember the name of.

Fenway is also the place i found out how strict Americans are on under age drinking...even if a parent consents to it.

Hot dogs at Notre Dame can't compete with dogs grilled on a handmade grill of aluminum foil and paper cans outside Ohio Stadium. Pretend it's wolverine meat and it tastes even better. :D 34-20

Did hot dog vendors at Tiger Stadium still use a stick to slather mustard on the dogs near the very end?

I am usually too stuffed from tailgating to eat inside. :D

We brought 2 pounds of pork roll to the Tennessee game last year and totally blew the minds of people around us.

I like Italian Beef sandwiches at US Cellular..

Those Primanti's sandwiches are good... They are huge! The Steak and Lube wings at PNC are great as well!

I like the good ol' footlong at the Jake with that stadium mustard:)

I like the Italian Sausages at Yankee stadium...

The BBQ at Camden is yummy...

I was not impressed with the Philly Cheesesteak in Philly:(

What flavor of wings you get? I think you get get one of 8 flavors at the ballpark (and 20 at the actual restaurants spread out thru Pittsburgh) My personal favorite is the "Louisiana Lickers"

As for philly cheesesteaks, haven't been to Citizens yet, but the ones at the Vet weren't that good either. The best cheesesteaks are not in the ballpark. I usually ate before games before going to the Vet.

My favs:

1. Fenway: ItalianSausage and Cuban sandwiches on Yawnkey Way--it doesn't get any better
2. Miller park (Brats with stadium sauce+ beer).
3. US Cellular Field (Cubs fan, but love the variety of vittles at Sox park)
4. Citizens Bank Park (Philly Steaks there are worth the drive from the Windy City)

I've been to several ballparks and nothing beats a Fenway Frank with Gulden's (sp?) Spicy Brown Mustard. Simple and good.

Now that I live in Denver, I've found a little-known secret at Coors Field. In the left field corner there's a place called Buckaroos. Techically it's a kids place, but it's easy to get away with (just be discreet so you don't ruin it for future folks :D ). You can get a cheeseburger, fries, and drink for under $6 total. Sure, the drink and fry portion is small, and there are bigger burgers in the park, but for $6, how can you go wrong?

Some people may look down on this practice, but given the price of ballpark food, it's the only way I can eat there without packing my own food each time.

I agree that atmosphere has a lot to do with it. For example, when I go hiking, a sandwich on a summit tastes much better than if I'm eating it at the kitchen table. :D

My cheapskate move like that is just go a guest services booth at the Roger Centre and say I'm my friend's designated driver and get a free coke. It's not that evil of a move seeing as I'm not drinking at the game anyway.

A Comiskey park Polish sausage with a lot of onions. Or if you want to say it like a Chicagoan, "I want a sawww with mustard, heavy onion". Their idea was to re-create the old Maxwell street hotdog stand that many of us Sox fans used to go to after the games "years ago" and the Polishes many of the fans grew up eating.

I quit drinking years ago but I still remember the taste of a good polish and a cold beer at the ballgame. I remember at Wrigley years ago the vendors used to fill your cup with a beer called "Old Style" thats from Wisconsin. They used to walk around with their serving bins filled with ice cold long necked bottles we used to call "goose necks". I swear, Old Style used to plain taste like mothers milk when it came out of the goose necks and there was never a better beer served then at Wrigley when it came out of those bottles.

My Dad used to love the two ballparks. He took me there often and it was the one place where he would be like a kid back then. Also "back then" in blue collar Chicago fathers used to take their sons to the neighborhood tavern with them. So that was usually our stop after a day game. The tavern where we "sons" would drink orange pops and play pinball while our dads drank and caught a night game on TV.

I knew more than a few people with the same attitude. I remember right before the 1995 World Series, when tickets were impossible to find, my aunt's mother told me that the post-season games should have been played at Municipal so that more people could get in. She was surprised that so few people agreed. I remember thinking 'that's because it's a really stupid idea.'
