Mine is even shorter:

Shea
Yankee Stadium
Wrigley Field
Petco
Citizens Bank Ball Park

Last three all in the last 12 months.

I have a family home an hour west of Tampa and kept bugging my Dad to go to a game at the Trop, but we never did and I haven't been down there since 2002.

I was in Montreal the same day that my Mets were playing the Expos with my sister and brother-in-law, but neither were particularly interested in indulging me a chance to see Olympic Stadium in all its suckitude.

Absolutely right about that. I already envy my nephew, who made it to RFK in Washington as well as Yankee and Shea. I know I'll not make it to those. And to think he got his start with me at Three Rivers many years ago!

Shea Stadium - Queens, NY New York Mets

Citibank Park- Central Islip, NY Long Island Ducks ( atlantic league, independant)

btw, citbank park is very nice ball park, seats 6002 and is always sold out. too bad the team sucks this year though. you had to be there in 2004 when the ducks won their first champions ship by sweeping the best team in the whole league every year which was the candem riversharks. i swear those games were awsome.

Busch Stadium (one torn down a couple years ago), Wrigley Field (my fav--and I'm a Card fan!), Old Comiskey, New Comiskey, Metropolitan Stadium (Twins--saw Killebrew hit a Slam on Bat Day--the sound of bats pounding on the concrete rafters overhead was deafening!), Dodger Stadium, Astrodome, Turner Field (best fan set up of any one I've been to), Riverfront in Cincy (for football, too).

Minors: Louisville ("Redbird Stadium"), Richmond ("The Diamond"), Salem, VA; Norfolk, VA, Springfield (IL), Yankees Spring training in Ft. Lauderdale.

I'll try this in order . . .

Forbes Field
Jarry Park
Fenway Park
Yankee Stadium
Tiger Stadium
Shea Stadium
Anaheim Stadium

My favorite was Forbes, maybe because it was my first . . .
Probably the best experience though, was at Yankee Stadium - it was 1968 or 1969 and it was oldtimer's day. It was fantastic - I can say I saw Joe DiMaggio play!!! And . . . (as I remember) the O's and Dave McNally shut out the Yanks. Can't get much better than that!

When you mention Bison Field, are you referring to Dunn Tire Park (formerly Pilot Field) in Buffalo, NY? If so, how did you like it? It's been a while since I was up there (like 15 years maybe) and I was wondering if it is still as nice.

Hello. My mistake. I meant to say Pilot Field. That was the name during my stop there in 1990. I went back there again a few years later on a business trip , just to eat.

I forgot to write Riverfront on my list. It was a forgettable place.

Yankee Stadium. Shea Stadium and Fenway Park. Fenway park was a fun experience. I was a Yankee fan and no one hounded me. I like the Neil Diamond thing they did at the 7th inning stretch.

I just found this site a cople of days ago (looking for Yankee Stadium renovation photos), and love it so far. Anyway, here's my list:

Wrigely (had season tickets as a kid)
Comiskey I and II

Then alphabetically:

Angels Stadium
AT&T
Ballpark @ Arlington
Busch II (the donut, not the current park)
Chase Field
Comerica
Dodger Stadium
Fenway
Great American Ballpark
Jacobs Field
Kauffman Stadium
McAfee Coliseum
Metrodome
Minute Maid
Oriole Park @ Camden Yards
Petco
Turner Field
Yankee Stadium (post-renovation)

Plus minor league games at:

Elfstrom Stadium (Kane County, IL)
Midway Stadium (St. Paul, MN)
Newman Outdoor (Fargo, ND)
Wade Stadium (Duluth, MN)

I've also seen NFL games at:

Adelphia Coliseum (now LP Field)
Metrodome
Soldier Field (pre-renovation, but not post)

I'd go into hockey venues, but we don't have time, and it doesn't appear appropriate... Thanks for the great site guys!

My list is not nearly as impressive as Moose97 -- but to celebrate birthdays of his son (just turning 13) and his father (much older) my son in Minnesota decided to treat us to a 6 or 7 game "baseball pilgrimage". All three of us are devout baseball fans -- but mostly of the Major League variety.

Here is the trip he planned for us, and scores of the games we actually saw:
June 29: Waterloo Bucks (2) at DULUTH HUSKIES (3) --Northwoods League
June 30: at St. Paul Saints (cancelled for personal reasons)
July 1: LaCrosse Loggers 0, at EAU CLAIRE EXPRESS 3 (Northwoods League)
July 2: Clinton LumberKings 1 at BELOIT SNAPPERS 2 (Class A Midwest League) (1 1/2 hour rain delay)
July 3: Burlington Bees 2 at KANE COUNTY COUGARS 7 (Class A)
July 4: with cousins in St. John Indiana
July 5: Winnepeg Goldeyes 10 at JOLIET JACKHAMMERS 1
July 6: We decided to pass on DES MOINES CUBS and visit my brother instead (in Galena IL)

A short trip each day, and in two cases we got free game tickets from our motel.
I was favorably impressed with the quality of ball played by the non-professional Northwoods League. These teams are made up of star college players in summer ball -- overall better pitching and fielding than we saw in Class A.

Before the first game of our tour we agreed we would always pull for the home team. The hometeam did in fact win 4 orf the five games we attended.

My main interest in minor leagues is to see players I think will move up to MLB. We saw a few:
* Josh Godfrey -- pitcher for Duluth -- no runs and six hits in 8 innings, with 7 strikeouts
* Kole Calhoun -- Rightfielder and relief pitcher for Eau Claire -- bats third in lineup, hit 2 for 2 with homerun and walk, scored two runs -- and came in as closer with bases loader and one out in ninth. Struck out two batters to preserve the shutout and win the game.
* Neftale Feliz -- starting pitcher for Clinton IA LumberKings. We left this game when a lightening storm hit after three innings, but in the three innings we saw Feliz gave up no hits and had five strikeouts!
* Michael Richard -- shortstop of the Cougars (affiliate of Oakland A's) -- three hits in 3 AB plus a walk, STOLE 4 BASES (stole 2B and 3B in 6th inning) and scored three runs.
* B Metheny -- third baseman for Goldeyes -- bats third, had two HR and a double, drove in 5 of his team's 10 runs.

If there was a booby prize, it would be Caruso -- third baseman for the JackHammers. He made three errors and had four groundouts in 4 AB in Joliet's 10-1 loss. This was the only time we saw the home team lose.

But all the minor league games were fun to watch -- with plenty of entertainment between innings. Best show was in Kane County, with a crowd of 10,400 to see a great fireworks show after the game.

Very impressive resume of ballgames attended! I'm envious! I'm just asking this next question so please don't think I'm implying anything. Did you actually attend a game at each of these venues? I've actually visited about 7 other ballparks which aren't included on my list of 12 (toured outside, which I actually did Shea and YS last Oct but didn't count them until this past week when I attended a game at each), of which just under half of those 12 are now indeed defunct . . . I'm just curious. I never count a park unless I actually attended a game there, as I'm sure you probably have and others as well on here.

I agree with those earlier on here who wish Ebbets, Polo Grounds, Shibe, Forbes and other numerious old parks were included on their list. But? I'm also thankful I'm not the age I would have to be to have done so . . .

Yup, I've been to games at each of those stadiums. I've always been a fan of road trips and baseball, so I've made a habit of doing road trips hitting ballparks.

And yeah, I don't count a park unless I've been to a game there. I've been to Tampa (and seen the Trop) a couple times, but never been to a Rays game. Last time I was in Tampa was spring break two years ago, and I went to a Yankees ST game. Hopefully I can get to a game this fall.

I'd say my favorites are Fenway, Wrigley, PNC and Coors.

Have to agree on PNC, which at this point is my favorite park, and in my mind would be hard to top. Can't say about the others as I haven't gotten to any of them yet. Reminiscent of Forbes, which I attended several times in my much younger days, but with all of the modern amenities.

Not in the mood to do a whole review but I loved Shea and Yankee Stadium. I don't care how cramped they may be, they're both awesome and beautiful.

I couldn't get over all the wild colors at shea stadium.

Just the thought of all the history at YS and how it's been a destination for baseball fans for so long was enough to give me the chills.

Plus the Yanks beat up on the Twins!

I loved at Shea how they play a video of Chris Rock pumping up the crowd.

The crowd at Shea was one of the wildest and most rowdy crowd I've ever seen at a game.

Lot of misbehavin' too.... no need for me to get into that but a lot of adult beverages were consumed by the Flushing Faithful around me.

I did the designated driver thing and got a freee pop :shhh:

Just got back from DC this past weekend to see the new Nationals Park. I live on Long Island and have now seen all current MLB parks to date. I started about 9 years ago as a way to see all the major cities in the USA and catch games. I have also seen games in RiverFront, Three Rivers, The Vet, Old Busch stadium, and County Stadium in Milwaukee as well - all now replaced. I did get to see the Expos in Montreal. Ironically, I only got to Cooperstown a few weeks ago, though I only live about 4 hours from there. Great thing about baseball parks is that they are all different. Not a standard thing like an ice rink or basketball court. Get around if you can. What a great game and way to see our cities.

Over the years, I've been trying to visit at least one different MLB stadium a year. This past year, I saw several games at Great American Ballpark, which was nice but not great. Last year, I went to Comerica, which I thought was a great ballpark. The year before, PNC, which was also extremely nice.

Manhattan:

Not sure why you quoted my post, but just to clarify: the list that I posted is a list of all the stadiums that I have seen a game played in. It has taken me 15-20 years to visit all of those stadiums, not counting Shea and Yankee, which I've been in countless times since childhood. In my intro paragraph, I limited my descriptions to just the past few years.

fwb - While I agree that ballparks are great, and if you go back, I've visited several (my number is about 2/3's of all current MLB parks), I have to disagree with the bolded section of your quote - especially when you get below the NHL/NBA level.

Not to turn the discussion away from baseball, but I follow D-I college hockey almost as closely as I do baseball, and I know of no other sport where one team (University of North Dakota) can have a rink like this:
http://k41.pbase.com/g6/02/589102/2/72706396.UAbNONMq.jpg

(this is a 12,000 seat rink (each seat is leather with cherry wood arm-rests), with marble floors in the concourses. It has 48 suites, and two club areas/bars. It is nicer than many NHL rinks, and no, I'm not the only person to say that (http://sports.espn.go.com/travel/news/story?id=2618909).)

And another team (Bemidji State University) can have a rink like this:
http://www.chtg.net/schools/images/bemidji.jpg

(this is a 2,300 seat rink (where all 2,300 seats are pull-out plastic bleachers all on one side like you'd see in a high-school gym).

Astute observers also might note that the team that plays in the first rink (North Dakota) is playing at Bemidji State (the teams are only 110 miles apart) in that second pic. So, there is quite a variety in D-I college hockey to enjoy...

How low is the roof in the second photo? Does the puck hit the roof on clearing attempts? Just wondering on the ground rules there.

How low is the roof in the second photo? Does the puck hit the roof on clearing attempts? Just wondering on the ground rules there.

I don't want to get in trouble, and turn this into a hockey discussion, but, yes, the puck frequently hits the rafters/roof. The reffs simply blow the play dead, and the face-off is at the spot of the clear...

All I wanted to point out was that baseball isn't the only sport with great variety in venue. I think that is a great misconception, as is illustrated in m two photos.

And before someone jumps on me, I understand that most rinks are the same size (although North Dakota's conference (the WCHA) has 5 rinks that are 200x100 ft, 1 rink that is 200x97 ft, 3 rinks that are 200x85 ft, and 1 rink that is 190x85 ft), so even that argument doesn't necessarily hold water...

I think the same can be said for any major college sport. There is a great discrepancy among D-1 college football stadiums as well as the hockey venues you point out. I'm not so sure about basketball, but I would bet there is quite a discrepancy there as well between the best and the worst. However, even though some rinks are a bit different in size, I think the point being made is the difference in the field itself. Obviously the infield is the same, but once beyond that there are often huge differences in the size down the lines, up the alleys, foul territory, and the shape of the field itself, unlike all the other major sports where the actual playing surfaces are virtually identical in shape - even if , as you allude to, there is sometimes a difference in size. I believe baseball is the only major team sport where the shape of the field changes from venue to venue.

Really for Moose97, but following in this discussion. I happened to have played D3 college hockey myself and coach to this day - so hockey talk is no problem for me. But, what is great about a baseball field is that comes in various sizes and shapes. The Green Monster is there because the real estate is short. McCovey Cove the same. You can go on and on. MOST hockey rinks are 200x85. All the newly built NHL rinks have to be that - so we don't have any unique rinks like the old Boston Garden or Chicago Stadium (real home ice advantage). I can't speak for new college rinks, but I am pretty sure they would have to be built to a spec, just like a football or basketball surface. The real crime in all of this is - new baseball fields are built and capture the old field of stadiums past with modern amenities. New Arenas for hockey/basketball are just money pits with no real atmosphere. Would you pick the New Boston Garden or the old to watch a game? Chicago Stadium or United Center? You can go on and on. But, most to all of the new baseball stadiums are just better. That is why Wrigley and Fenway might last forever - they won't be able to match that history. In those parks people think things falling apart are part of history. So be it.

At Wrigley the Cubs falling apart are certainly a part of history - and this past week continues the trend.

And I don't say this to irritate or needle Cubs fans, since being an Indians fan (second longest active streak without a championship) I feel their pain.;)

I understand what you're saying - re: atmosphere at hockey rinks/basketball arenas. For example, when the team in that first photo (sorry, it disapeared, click on this link (http://www.theralph.com/asp/default.asp?p=13) for photos and a description) moved from their old 6,000 seat building, they lost some of their intimidation factor, since that old place was loud, the fans were right on top of you, and it was dark, and just imposing.

Translating to baseball - the new parks are great, but I still put Wrigley and Fenway above my favorite new parks that I've been to. Whether it's the atmosphere at either, or history - if Wrigley or Fenway are replaced, it won't be the same.

1. Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. Watched the Jays play the Yanks and they smoked them. I believe the final score was 13-1

2. RFK Stadium in DC. Saw the Mets three times there and the Phils once.

3. Nationals Park in DC. Saw the Mets once again and they blew a 8th inning lead.

4. Shea Stadium in NYC. Mets-Braves DH Sept 30th 08. Mets split after the bullpen collapsed once again in game one.

Out of the 4 stadiums Shea was the best. The seats were great and you could cut the electricity with a knife. So Long SHEA. I know I will miss you.

Waterfront Park- Trenton Thunder- Too many times to count, a lot when I was a kid, and I try and go to at least one game there every year.

College of Staten Island Field- Staten Island Yankees- 2002- Stadium Prior to construction of Richmond County Ballpark

Richmond County Ballpark- Countless times. Try to go there as much as possible.

Citizens Bank Ballpark- 2005 and 2006- Went with work, great ballpark.

Fenway- Summer 2007- Overrated dump. Seats were small and cramped, was dirty and the food made me sick. And no, I'm not just saying this as a Yankee fan. The place was very overrated and I didn't see any of the charm in it. And the majority of the fans seamed to be bandwagon jumping yuppies. I will say however that the few real fans I spoke to were incredible knowledgeable, and I had a great time talking to them, the only problem was they were incredibly outnumbered.

Thats it for me, next year I want to get to nationals park, NYS (Obviously), Citi, and PNC. I might also get to Comerica, but that remains to be seen.

Campbell Field really is quite beautiful. Great view of Philly (better than CBP) and great baseball too. The Atlantic League has done of good job of marketing their brand of baseball.

I really like the Bridgeport Bluefish's Harbor Yard. Metro-North's New Have line runs behind right field and you can see Amtrak trains as well.

Digital Ballparks has a great view of a train passing the ballpark. (http://www.digitalballparks.com/Atlantic/Bridgeport8.html)

I just booked a trip for next summer that will add New Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, Citizens Bank and Nationals Park to my list. I'm also hoping to tour PNC on the trip, so that would be great as well. Hell, there's likely as many people there during a tour as during a game ;)

Usually it's around the first of February, but if you go to their team website the exact date is listed. Also, I don't know if they still have it, but used to be on the team website they had a listing of games that season ticket holders had for sale. Probably not any Yankee games, but you could try. Some mighty good seats available there.

I'm only gonna list my MLB ballparks...minors would take awhile to think about...

*Shea Stadium - 65 games
*Renovated Yankee Stadium - 12 games
Tropicana Field - 11 games
*Veterans Stadium - 9 games
Oriole Park at Camden Yards - 8 games
Citizens Bank Park - 3 games
*Three Rivers Stadium - 1 game
SkyDome - 1 game
Joe Robbie Stadium - 1 game
*Cinergy Field - 1 game
*RFK Stadium - 1 game

TOTAL - 113 games, 11 ballparks

* = defunct ballparks

I've also been to a number of other MLB parks, without actually having seen games there...Tiger Stadium, Jacobs Field, Dodger Stadium, Anaheim Stadium, Memorial Stadium (Baltimore), PNC Park, Coors Field, and Safeco Field.

Hopefully I'll add a couple more to the list this year...and since I have partial-season tickets at Citi Field, that should vault to the #2 spot on my list before the end of the season.

As of this very moment, I have attended games at 12 MLB parks in my life, of which 6 of those are no longer there or in use. My son Walter and I used "Baseball-Road Trip Planner" http://www.baseball-roadtrip.com/index.php?gclid=CMeh3pvms5QCFR0ZagodJwnyTQ
Excellent Tool!!!! So we aim to add 6 new parks this year, parks in the midwest. I don't have the resources nor time to attend every ballpark in one season (ONE of every red-blooded american males dream) so 6 this year, and perhaps another 6 next year etc. etc. will have to suffice. Below is my updated list as it should look at the end of this year.

Right now we are discussing a trip down the west coast in 2010, Seattle, SF, Oak, LA, LA, SD and also a sasche out to Target Field,Minn & and the 2 new NY parks as well. Work, work, work . .ha!

In chronological order: Names of ballparks provided as they were referred to then.

Since this thread is about parks you have attended games at, I mentioned that I attended a game at Dodger Stadium in 1997. In chronological order (more or less, based on the first time I attended a game):

Shea Stadium
Busch Stadium (II)
The Astrodome
Comiskey Park (I)
Dodger Stadium
Jack Murphy Stadium
Anaheim Stadium/Edison International Field
Wrigley Field
Oakland Coliseum
Candlestick Park
Joe Robbie Stadium/Pro Player Stadium

I went to Shea around 16-17 times (I only remember 13 for sure, the others were before I was interested in baseball and I only went with others (parents, summer day camp). Others I went to often were Dodger Stadium (13), Anaheim Stadium (8) and Joe Robbie/Pro Player Stadium (8). These numbers reflect the 3 locations that I haved lived permanently (NYC, Southern California and South Florida). The stadium that I went to the most in a city that I didn't live in was Jack Murphy Stadium (5).

Seems I haven't been to any of the modern retro stadiums :( Maybe someday.

It might be easier to list the one's where I haven't seen a game rather than the thread topic. Business extensive domestic business travel really helps "take me to the ballparks":
Historic Parks (because even at 58 yrs old, I'm still too "young" for some of these):
Ebbetts Field
Sportsman's Park
Connie Mack Stadium
League Park
Wrigley in LA
Seal Stadium
Sicks Stadium
Colts Stadium
Kingdome
Mile High
Crosley Field
Forbes Field
Municipal Stadium KC

Current Stadiums; which I've yet to get to them;
Safeco (a trend here, Seattle has not been a business stop)
Arlington,Tx
Minutemaid Park
Citi Field (I will get there this summer)
New YS (again, this summer a w/e NYC trip is planned)
The latest Busch Stadium
Kaufman Stadium

I'd like to get to the remaining parks and any new
ones to come before I get too old or too dead.

I got to the Polo Grounds when I was 11 years old
in the summer of 1962 to see the "new" Mets play.
The memory is haunting. To an out of town kid,
I found it very large (compared to Fenway), seats
a bit distant from the action and strangely built
as we all know. After going into Yankee Stadium
for the first time, later that same summer, I
was more impressed.
Now that YS will soon be gone, both of the
ballparks are unforgettable, and thankfully in
thousands of photo's on this website.

You're not too old to have been there, you just didn't make it. I'm 58 and can tell you it's too bad you never got to Forbes, because it was a great old ballpark. I never got inside Crossley, but drove past it coming home on weekends from Fort Knox when I was stationed there. Interestingly, I also drove past the Polo Grounds, but never got to see a game there - or Yankee Stadium, for that matter.

Skydome was the most impressive based on the sheer size and scope of the place...had a Rock Hall, McDonalds and hotels. I thought it was amazing...but then again I was 8 at the time.
