Now I know Soxson and maybe some other boston fans dont like me very much because they said I was "gloating" and that I shouldnt have the sig I have, but Im still gonna post this...
I just wanna give you guys a sh*t load of credit and propz. I mean, I dont know how you do it. Going in every year and getting so close, but then falling short. Of course, I wouldn't know, because Im a Yankee fan. But I can only imagine. So just keep your heads up, because one day, this curse or whatever you wanna call it WILL BE BROKEN.
P.S. Oh, Im not kissin' a** :)

he is not sincere. His post smells of sarcasm. He is just another Yankee fan coming over to kick us when we are down IMO:grouchy

Considering that GSheff 2005 hasn't posted in over a year, then any comments aimed at him will fall wide of the mark.
Was he sincere? Hard to say. But check the date of his post, and remember what happened the next day...and the day after that, and the day after THAT, etc etc.
This year may stink, but we have some good memories to savor. :dance

what curse ? the BoSox ended that so called curse, when they won the
series in 04....if there's a curse right now, it's the curse of not having a
decent bullpen, along with Theo not making a before the dealine deal
of some sorts...the pitching needs to be overhauled...

It would appear that wigglestrue is trying to remind us that it's always darkest before the dawn. As well intentioned as that might be, I think our dawn will be next season at the soonest. This year's team just doesn't have it in them to overcome their weaknesses. Blame Tito, blame Theo, blame Leisuresuit Larry, in the end there will be plenty of blame to go around.
At this point I just hope the Sox can reclaim some of their dignity and finish the season on a positive note. Big Papi setting a team record for homeruns in a season would be nice. Who knows, maybe there's enough time left for him to make a run at Maris' AL record. All he would need is 15 longballs over 32 games. Tough, but not impossible.

A blast from the past. I vaguely remember that post, and at the time, I did think he was being sincere. As Annie said, considering what followed, everything certainly turned out all right that year.
In addition to Flash's remarks, it also might remind us that it isn't riding along with a pleasant winning streak that makes us fans. What brands us as committed to the cause is enduring the ups and downs with unwavering loyalty. It's tough to see it right now, but another '04 is around the corner.

I wonder if that's what they were saying in 1920? :p
I'm sorry, but I just had to say that - it was so perfectly set up. :D

Lol, I'm surprised many people still didn't read the topic date after I posted and VTSoxFan posted. :laugh
Flash, well put. I'm still a huge fan of the team myself and still remaining positive about the team. Place blame won't do much at this point and blaming never does all that much. The end result is still the same whether you place blame or not.
Since I've been a fan of this team, I've only experience one losing season, the season we finished last after the strike. I think people forget that teams, most teams in every other sport, are not always great. Though, I can see people being annoyed, especially with our ticket prices at Fenway. You expect more money into the team, which will likely be put to use during this off-season.

i picked the perfect time to become a sox fan...2002...so i had 1 year of turning into a fan, and then in 03 i missed like 4 games all year. and i say that's perfect because 03 gave me SOME credibility as a sox fan lol, and made it so that i had at least some grasp on what the championship meant.
i like this team more than any team i've seen them field yet. obviouslt the 04 team is my favorite in retrosopect, but aside from recent FA pickups (julian tavarez, javy lopez, seanez, etc) there isn't a single player on this team that i don't like particularly strongly.
part of the reason its so incredibly frustarating to watch all this, but also part of the reason that it's more fun to imagine the possibilities of future teams.
well...reading this thread and watching a 9-0 game in the top of the 9th has put me in the mood to pop in a dvd of the 04 playoffs.
brighter days to come, fellers.
