Maybe!
I didn't stay at my seat, and maybe I've take your picture?
I've got over 150 pictures...
I could'nt stay in place, it was like watching an ex-girlfriend with her new boyfriend...
I walked around during all the game
I needed to move to keep my eyes dry :o

Slaff, I remember hearing of Hollywood actors/actresses who bore kids that didn't know of their work, or retired athletes who'd sired kids after their playing days.
Your son may not be able to see Youppi or anything and everything that is (and sadly was) the Montreal Expos, but through your photos, your stories and personal recollections, he can keep things alive.
Looking at the various Brooklyn Dodger fans who've kept the faith all these years, 47 years after their team's departure cross-country, I'd say it can be done.
He may not be able to smell the popcorn, the hot dogs, the grass in the field, see the numbers the players wore, who pitched and when, but he can always be reminded from time to time.

Seriously Matt;
I can't even get my kids to listen to me when I tell them a fart joke (toilet humour is all the rage with the 3-7 year olds!)!!!!
You honestly think they are gonna listen to me tell them about 1979 and the pirates, 1980 and the Phils and most depressingly 1981 and the Dodgers!!!!
Kids are turning off BB for more "fast-paced" sports. Their options are far greater than ours. We had hockey, football and Baseball.
By the time I was finishing High school there was a strong Basketball and soccer movement.
Now they have everything from 'boarding to drive by shooting and school bombing!!!
how the heck can BB compete, ESPECIALLY if there is no major league representation........... the fat lady is into the last verse and all we have left is the chorus and one refrain.......don't forget to turn out the lights.

I don't know, but I think the greatness of the game of baseball is proven because it has survived all these years despite the SOBs who run it. I grew up in an era when there were no teams west of Milwaukee, the only games on TV were on Saturday afternoons, the World Series was played in the afternoon and I didn't see a major league game live until I was in my 30s.
I hate a lot of things about the modern game from the DH to some of the arrogant sods who play and think they are bigger than the game itself. The excorcism of the Expos from Montreal is only the latest manifestation of things I dispise. Yet the game remains the same. To me, it is eternally fascinating on so many levels.
When I lived in Montreal in the 80s, the city had a fantastic minor baseball program. My kids didn't listen to me then anymore than anyone else's kids listen to them, but they both developed a love of the game that remains with them today as adults largely, I think, because they played it. Sure we went to a bunch of games together, but usually they'd lost interest by the 5th inning.
But by playing the game they developed an insight into the intricacies of the game. While they may not have been any more interested in my rehashing listening to the Scooter call Maris's 61st home run on an October Sunday than your kids are listening to your fart jokes, they grew to appreciate what that meant to me. Now they have their own memories.
I think the game will survive and I hope that everyone who has enjoyed the Expos over all these years won't give up on it. It would be like committing suicide after your spouse dies. Sure you mourn the loss. Of course there is an emptiness in your heart that nothing seems to fill. But life goes on. And so does the game.

I know exactly how Expo fans feel. When the Jets left Winnipeg it was like I had lost a family member.
I'll miss the Jays/Expos interleague clashes, always a good rivalry.

Expos fans have my utmost sympathy. This brings back memories of when the Whalers left Hartford in 1997. I am a diehard NY Rangers fan but I truly felt sorry for the fans who lost their beloved team that April. Perhaps baseball will return to Montreal someday...

As for Youppi, the best mascot ever in professional sport (I really believe that) He may become the mascot of the Montreal Canadians. At least he may not be lost.

Will you Expos fans root for the Nationals now? I know when the Rams left LA for St. Louis, a lot of LA folks still root for them, and of course those from Brooklyn still rooting for the Dodgers!
I was really saddened reading this! It makes me think of all the rumors that the Rays will be contracted after 2006! http://www.baseball-fever.com/images/icons/icon9.gif I know I haven't had my team as long as you've had yours, but I love them just as much I assure you, and would be completely devastated to see them contracted/moved/whatever! Hopefully someone gets a stadium deal and a good owner and Montreal can have another team again! :D

Hello folks, its been a real tough time for me lately. Not having the spos has really hit me hard. At this time of year I usually try and catch 2 games a week with my buds , but now there's no where to go and the city of Montreal to me feels so empty without the spos.
I was fortunate enough to go to the last game , of which I have pictures of. I got 2 posted on the net so far...

Wow, reading this I didnt know there were fans of the Expos who really cared about their team. After reading this I wish the Expos would go back to Montreal. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost my Cubs (thankfully I don't see that happening). Well good luck on recovering from a season without the Expos.

I still love the game of baseball.
Losing the Expos taught me that baseball's owners don't own the game. They just own franchises.
I live less than an hour from the Expos' new home at RFK. But I'm not going there, not yet.
MLB may have owned and sold the Expos, but they can't own and sell my loyalties.
Glad to see people visiting this site and realizing what the Expos meant to their fans. One of my greatest frustrations as a US-based fan was making people understand how much Quebecers (and far-off fans like me) really did love and support the Expos.
Yes, I still love the game. But my field of dreams doesn't have a cornfield in left field. It has Astroturf and a fence with "99 pi / 325 ft" down the lines.

The last insult...
Don't be so insulted. The Florida Marlins will probably be joining your beloved Expos in baseball limboland. Nobody goes to their games either. You guys got a raw deal. A guy like Omar Minaya finds the talent, develops the talent, the 'Spos put together good teams and then the owner has a firesale. One of the things that are so wrong about the sport.

It hasn't been as long yet as between the Kansas City A's and the Kansas City Royals. The last of the old expansion teams (Rays) are now doing very well. You can't even use the Marlins to slow down expansion, as they're a winning team nearly as often as they're a losing one. It has been 10 years since the last expansion, baseball is making money hand over fist, there's a number of underexploited markets especially in Canada, and the current division structure calls for 6 more teams, 4 in the AL, 2 in the NL.
Lift up your heads and root for the Rays for one year, Montreal! With a good Tampa season, expansion is soon! I can feel it!
