View Full Version : What teams do you hate?

We all know that the Yankees are the most hated team but let's reverse the tables, what teams do you hate?
My candidates are:
1. Red Sox
I know that this is the easy one. Besides being the Yankees's natural rival, they are just an easy team to hate. They define the word "choke." No team has more annoying fans (they whine constantly, think Fenway is a part of heaven, and they somehow think it's cool to root for a team that chokes in all the big games). They always dredge up the stupid "Curse of the Bambino!" Their real curse is all the bad players and management they've had over the years
2. Braves
An unemotional team that thinks that winning a pennant is "good enough." The only player who expressed any anger at losing the 1999 WS to the Yankees was Brian Jordan and they traded him! The rest of the team talked about what a great year they had - obviously Steinbrenner is not their boss! And when is someone going to get some medical or psychological help for Leo Mazzone? I'm going carzy watching him sway forward and back. Give the man some medication!!!!
3. Texas
They actually traded for Rocker! Plus, I still am mad about ARod's comments about Jeter (of course, Derek showed what a class act he is by not answering back). They also are a team that doesn't seem to understand that to win you have to have some pitching. However, they should provide us with the best fight of the year (Rocker vs Everett).
4. Seattle
They're just annoying and that Edgar Martinez just kills the Yankees. At least they got out of that stupid dome.
5. Dodgers
Enough said!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Apr-12-02 AT 11:08 AM (EDT)]All teams have some good pieces (in Texas' case it's Palmero... most under rated player in the league) in the Braves case it's the pitching staff (how can you hate Glavine, Maddox, or Smoltz)...
As for Seattle... must suck knowing that there are actually 2 real teams out there Magyar Bill. Any team that loses Griffey, ARod, and Johnson and does better needs to be given respect. Maybe the hatred comes from Ichiro beating out some slugger/needs-to-be-a-DH/No-replacement-for-Tino for MVP.
Real baseball fans love the game, screw the teams. 'Nuff Said.

There you go. That one I can handle. Does Hernandez get the start today after Clemens filled in (badly)?
Any bets as to who will have the best record at the All-Star break?
I have to wonder how long the Indians can keep this pace up.

I could say I don’t make bets, I win bets, but that would be a lie. I ALWAYS LOSE BETS.
Who knows who will have the best record at the All-Star break?
The Indians can be this year’s Mariners.

It seems to me that you are taking my post a little too seriously. Perhaps my use of the word "hate" confused you? Most fans have a few teams that they want their team to beat just a little (or a lot) more than the other teams. Are you telling me that Yankee fans in general do not take a little more pleasure when the Yanks beat the Red Sox than when they beat the Devil Rays? If you think not, then you perhaps have never been to Yankee Standium when the Red Sox are in town (or when the Mets played the Yankees in the WS). The teams I identified are teams that I take special pleasure in seeing the Yanks beat. I think that a great majority of Yankee fans would agree with me -that is what makes a true rivalry!!!!! That is why a game between the the Yanks and the Red Sox (for example)is always special no matter where the teams are in the standings.
None of that is to say that I don't think that the teams I identified don't have good players - obviously they do. But that was not my point.

These teams I don't like:
1. Red Sox
Most hostile fans you'll ever meet. Players not so freindly with Yankees either (but we got Damon:D )
2. Mets
Almost as hostile as Red Sox fans except closer.
3. Braves
This team is so unoriginal and boring to watch. A. Jones, Hudson, and Francoeur are all overrated.
The rest I'm pretty much neutral with.

Thanks for clearing that up, Magyar Bill. Maybe you should change the topic title to "Which teams you love to see the Yankees beat?" or something like that since that's basically what you're asking, no?
Speaking from a Sox fan's point of view. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy watching the Red Sox take the Yankees do. I don't think there would have been as much "emotion" to 04 ALCS if the Red Sox didn't do it against the Yankees. Lol, image if the Sox did it against the Devil Rays.

Hi there Magyar Bill. Silly question maybe: Are you from Hungary perhaps? Because Magyar is Hungarian for Hungary.

I don't hate any other teams, because I love baseball. However..teams I would like to see the Orioles beat more than others:
1. The Yankees.
2. The Blue Jays. - can you say Cito Gaston.
3. The Red Sox.
But, mostly the Yankees.

1. angels: i got so tired of that damn rally monkey bs plus i'm an m's fan
2. braves: most boring team EVER (i live in the south and EVERYONE likes them)

It's not fashionable to hate the Yankees if they are in your division and they always beat you. Or it seems like it. This weekend Yankees/O's. It's my favorite divisional series. It's like being a masochist...LOL

But first we have to finish telling the Tigers who's boss.
And Randy' back.

I never hated the Yanks, tho most of my friends do. The way I figure it they have earned all their success. I despise the Tribe, dont like the Cardinals, and lately have been having ill thoughts about the Tigers. I dont think to much of the Angels either, "where in hell is Anaheim"? Where ever it is there is far to much whining going on there, "enough with the AJ dropped pitch already, you got beat".

At the moment there is no team that I dislike.
I really disliked the 1988-1990 Atheletics. To me Mc Gwire and Canseco were a bunch of arrogant #$@%^&%.

I'm from Toronto. So naturally I am a Jays fan. And it's true, I do hate the Yankees. But I have come to realize that teams like the Yankees make baseball better and more exciting. They are the team you love to hate. To me they are the Goliath of baseball. They are big, strong and arrogant. But this just makes it sweeter if the David's of baseball (Jays, Baltimore etc.) can rise up and beat them. No one wants to see "David" beat up a kindergarder. They want to see him beat the giant!
Go Jays Go!

As a Yankees fan, I hate the Red Sox first and foremost. I hate David Ortiz with a passion and can't cheer for any of their players.
I also dislike the Florida Marlins. Being from Quebec, I was a Expos fan (even though I've been a Yankee first since the strike) and Jeffrey Loria (current Marlins owner) destroyed the organisation and ultimately the city of Montreal lost its team. So I can't stand Loria's team for that reason.

Ah, I like this post... who do I dislike.
1.)New York Yankees
2.)New York Mets
3.)St.Louis Cardinals
1.)Yankee's cause of that never ending payroll.
2.) the new york mets.) Cause of my brother becoming a traitor after the '84 season vowing never to root for the cubs again and actually sticking to it, and becoming a life long met fan thereafter (he made that statement at 6, who knew) He idolized Jody Davis though.
3.) I am a cub fan, enough said.
