Just looking to get a fix on the number of members who are primarily expos fans.
We used to get tons of posting here but over the last little while it seems its primarily only Monarch, Ontarioguy and myself with the all too rare post from XPOFAN, Delyno and some visitors.
How about a heads up from the expos fans browsing and or posting in this forum.

Since I've joined it's been pretty quiet but I look at the total posts and we have over 3000 posts in this forum.
We're tops in the NL section and are behind only Brooklyn Boston and NYY.

Welcome aboard Roxexpo.
Tell us a bit about your Expos experience.
I have been a fan since 1969.
I go to between 5-20 games a year.
My favorite memory is a late september game with the Pirates. Waited out a 2 1/2 rain delay and we won in extra innings.
It was cold, wet and there were 50,000 people in the stadium.
When the game ended there were still 35-40,000 people.
Nobody left.
It was incredible.

well ive been a fan of the expos since the 97 season (also a big fan of the rockies). I like these teams because they are low budget teams but always find a way to win. Ive seen the expos whenever they come to houston to play the astros (I live her in houston). Great to be part of this forum

HEy welcome aboard LP.
I presume the name is reference to one our all-time greatest 3B and not your preference to Vinyl over CDs. ;)
I remember a game at the big owe when LP drove one down the LF line and it landed about 30 rows up (back when the bleachers were REALLY far from the field.) but the amazing thing is that the ball was on an upward trajectory at the time.!!!!!
I was sitting there with my buddy (we were in RF bleachers so we had an excellent view of the trajectory) and we both just looked at each other in stunned amazement.
I have seen Strawberry tank one out, I was at the game when kingman hit the roof (causing the lines to be painted) and I saw VLAD hit the new scoreboard. None of them compared to that shot of LPs. The sheer force.
Again welcome aboard.

You betcha....he's one of my alltime favorites....don't live close to Montreal, so I have only seen a handful of games at the owe, but one I did catch was great....spring of '78 against the cubs...Rogers pitching, and LP and Carter had jacks.... man that was a great club..
have been enjoying the Cro on The Score.. but not most of the games..
the 17-14 game was a crazy one tho,

BTW, I never felt the need to elaborate on the subject, but I'm primarily an Expos fan too. No wait, I'm exclusively an Expos fan.
First game at the stadium: A 6-3 win against the Cincinnati Reds, circa 1984.
Last game to date: wednesday.
Number of MLB games attended with the Expos not involved: None.
Favorite players all-time: Tim Wallach and Vladimir Guerrero.
Favorite player on the 2004 edition: Brad Wilkerson
Best moment: Listening on a car radio, with the door open during a family reunion, to that 93 game against the Phillies when Cordero hit his double on the third base line.
Most unusual moment attended in person: Dennis Martinez getting thrown out of a game with two outs in the first inning against Houston, in that same time frame. Butch Henry came in and won the game.
I could go on, but that's enough for tonight. If the Damocles sword that's been haging over the team for the last 15 years or so finnally drops on our heads this year, will have all the time in the world to stirr up old memories.
My posting have slowed down somewhat over the past six months. I have been checking on the Expos, since Dave Van Horne and Duke Snider did the teams Telecasts.
During my two years on Baseball Fever I have tried to keep abreast of Baseball in general and have expressed my displeasure with ML Baseball Executives in particular during the past few years for having the Expos play some of their Home games in Puerto Rico.
Other things have captured my attention away from Baseball and hopefully I will be checking in more frequently in the future.
By the way, is this area going to be called the "Washington Expos" soon?

I think I hit a nerve. I didn't mean to get anyone upset. I hated to see the Montreal Expos leave Canada.
If you are going to keep this area open to the Montreal Expos fan, it will have to be relegated to the area of "past" teams, where my Brooklyn Dodgers are.
I guess the Webmaster will have to open an new area for the new "Washington Expos".
My apologies to all Montreal Expos fan for my inexcuseable yet unintentional remark about changing the name of this area.

There is some postinging going on in Current Events on this. You can try www.washingtonpost.com and www.fieldofschemes.com or www.businessofbaseball.com for updates. This gentleman "hated to see the Montreal Expos leave Canada," but when the Brooklyn Dodgers--"his" Brooklyn Dodgers--died and a different entity began calling itself the Dodgers in LA, this gentleman unequivocally stated that if he had been the owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers, he would have moved the team to LA. Naturally, I am deeply touched by the sympathy he has expressed for all Expos' fans.

Have been following the Expos from Australia since the late 80s and have found myself following the Nationals but am not happy about it. I never actually made it to Olympic Stadium but have caught a few games on TV over the years. Mostly relied on reading results in the paper. This season is certainly not the same without the Expos. I really don't think it will ever be the same for me. This whole Expos saga has soured me on pro sports to a large degree. I still like baseball and will follow it a bit, but the love, passion, anger and ectasy are just not there. I think even if a team were ever to return to Montreal in my lifetime, it won't be the same. I wouldn't be able to say I grew up with the team.
I know we fans don't count for anything, but it was really sad for us. Many people mocked us and continue to mock us even now, but I know that I can't think of more dedicated fans as the ones I have come to know as part of the Expos nation.

Gus,
Good to see you know Brisbane! Quite a lot of us in Brisbane have followed the Expos as our local baseball club has worn the old Expos uniform since the 80s and still do today. I reckon we would have bought more Expos hats and gear than anyone else outside of North America! An interesting point is that in the mid 90s Monteal made us pay them $1 to continue using their logo as our club logo.
Cheers.....

Just wanted to say hello to whoever is still lurking. I'm a lifelong Los Angeles resident, who followed and rooted for the 'Spos from their first year to their last. I think I had a soft spot in my heart for them because of their link to my own Dodgers and the treatment Jackie Robinson received in the city before he went to the majors.
I had the great pleasure of visiting Stade Olympique on every occasion, whenever I would visit Montreal, which is surely one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I fondly remember riding the Metro and making a stop at the fan store, getting a Montreal smoked meat sandwich and ogling the beautiful usherettes (when they had them). I never understood why people said the stadium was ugly -- I didn't think it was at all. The Kingdome? Now THAT was ugly!
I visited them for the last time the year before they left, against the Reds. It was profoundly sad, as I knew it was probably the last time I would ever see the team. When the game ended, I just stood and stared out at the field as the scant crowd exited -- taking in the sight for one last time.
It's a travesty that there's no more baseball in Montreal, but it's MLB's loss.
Long live the Expos!

I have always been an Expos fan and will always be one at least from memory. I remember the day the Expos were awarded the franchise and waiting from then until April 14th, 1969 when they first played at Jarry was the longest time of my life.
I hope that the thread is not dead but thought that I would announce myself as another Expos diehard
