Ahh theres nothing to do or watch this offseason, so I thought about something, a game!, a baseball name game!
Just someone posts a name and you have to put another baseball player name with the same name or last name (ex. Don Mattingly- Don Zimmer, get it?)

Ill kickoff this by saying Edgar Martinez

Can I say Woody Rich? If not, Rich Aurilia.

Rich Reese.

At least his last name can be matched. Please check here by typing in first or last names: http://www.baseball-reference.com/

Pokey Reese.

Shouldn't this be in Trivia?

Captain, you think Trivia would be a better idea? Interesting.

I think we need another name, since there's only one "Pokey" listed under b-r.com.

Now had we started out with "Ted Williams", we could've gone on with tons of Teds and tons of Williamses.

Well, it can't be a current event issue if you use old time players.

And to amend the Pokey issue, I'll send out:

Jimmie Reese, who got more mileage out of briefly rooming with Babe Ruth's suitcase than humanly possible.

mikey_s

First Kelo said either name first/last. So we didn't need to amend pokey.

Second does spelling count or are we using phonetics?

I.e. Jimmie, Jimy, Jimmy, Jim....

So if we revert back to pokey reese we can continue with

pee wee reese..... since peewee herman didn't play ball.... :D

Actually peewee was harold!

Ted Williams I'll agree with you that Ted Williams is a better choice, but I don't think you should say that anybody has created a mess. Just my opinion, that's all. :)

Since you started this thread, I guess that using retired players is OK then. Correct?

Billy Williams

Are we allowed to use variations of names, such as "Mickey", "Michael", etc?

I said Ike Hampton before your guys' little "Mike" posts, so they don't count, right?

Yes you can "interchange" names.

Yes you can use walter, I said it before you can use name variations, mike michael, vic victor, walt walter, etc...

You're right about that, Choo Choo IS unique.

From the Baseball-Reference:

I remember Choo Choo as a symbol of the futile Mets. On a Kiner's Korner show, Ralph asked him his wife's name and what's she like; and Choo Choo replied "Mrs. Coleman" and, "she like me"

Vintage Choo Choo.:laugh Reminds me of the Little Rascals episode, where the teacher asks for the name of George Washington's wife. Instead of "Martha", they replied "Mrs. Washington", which was a side splitter. :D :laugh

She likes me? Sounds like those crazy things Gracie Allen would say, that you'd laugh at by how she'd said it.
